So I don't want to be negative but here it goes anyways. I can't believe how much of this lineup doesn't interest me at all. It's like I really shouldn't be going this year, but I get to go for free and it's hard to pass that opportunity up. I could also really use a Bonnaroo vacation. But I'm having a hard time filling up my schedule. I noticed that I had artists on my schedule that I hadn't even listened to, they were just there because people recommended them. So I finally decided to listen to some of them and I found most of them boring. I started exploring other artists I had in my downtime and nothing stuck out. I started to question if it was just me. Am I just not in the right mood? Have I become too much of a music snob? Everything was just straight up boring and vanilla. I'm sure I'll still have a great time, but there's just so many gaps in my days.
Thursday has nothing for me until The Orwells, after that I'll check out The Other Stage with Innanet James, then The Lemon Twigs, silent disco, and Kevin Abstract.
Friday would be so much less of a bummer if Car Seat Headrest and Francis and the Lights didn't directly conflict. But Khuragbin might be cool. Kevin Morby will be great but I have to leave early for a good spot at Car Seat Headrest. Jay Som > The xx > and U2 will be a great run. I really don't get the hype behind Portugal. the Man or Glass Animals. I know people are saying Friday is stacked but it's like if you don't care about either of those artists it immediately becomes not so stacked. I'm probably going to do Claude Vonstroke and Big Gigantic because that's a guaranteed fun time.
Saturday is actually a good day for me. There's not much I want to see, but one of my favorite bands and one of my favorite rappers are performing and I'll be up close for both (The Front Bottoms and Chance). Red Hot Chili Peppers will be a fun time. Then I'm going to get weird at Shpongle so I look forward to that
Sunday would be the best day for me if it wasn't scheduled so poorly. In fact, Sunday's schedule is probably my worst case scenario. Noname, Hannibal, and Skepta will be awesome. But I'm seriously bummed I'll have to miss some of Flatbush Zombies. Then I'll have to leave Lorde early to be in the fun part of the crowd at Travis Scott. Then I'll probably enjoy The Weeknd. Looking back at this whole schedule I can't help but feel underwhelmed. I'm still looking forward to being at Bonnaroo but it's not because of the lineup.
Have you looked at any of the comedy?
Thursday is going to be mainly comedy for me (Kyle Kinane and Natasha Leggero), and I'll be going to U Talking U2 To Me and possibly Hannibal Buress
I agree that a lot of the stuff is boring acts that people are sort of convincing themselves to be excited for (other than PTM, Glass Animals, and Cage, who all have inexplicably large fanbases)

I actually haven't checked out much of the comedy. Anything that doesn't overlap with The Orwells on Thursday would be ideal.

Personally Kyle Kinane is one of my favorite comedians, he has two shows on Thursday and having seen him a few times before I know it'll be great. Def a show to catch if you're not looking forward to the music

I only ever count on seeing one great or very good set on Thursdays. If more happen, it's a pleasant surprise. I got there pretty late my first year, so that may be why I feel that way.

In 2014 I had Cloud Nothings and Pusha T who were both very memorable. 2015 was even better when I got to see Raury, The Growlers, Courtney Barnett, and Mac Demarco all back to back. 2016 was decent with Waxahatchee, Bully (who I love), Hinds, Twin Peaks, and Cashmere Cat. Thursdays used to be one of my favorite things about Bonnaroo.

Got there late in 2014 and missed Cloud Nothings. Saw Push and Poliça and they were both good. Push was a lot of fun. Next year I camped at Other and really loved Benjamin Booker, Glass Animals was alright. Obviously there were issues with the sound. Last year Hermitude was a top-five set of the weekend. I think with this year's That lineup I can expect about the same. One or two really great sets. It's not what it was, though, surely. I really wish they had a couple acts higher on the lineup that day, like Klangstof or even someone bigger like D.R.A.M.
I feel like I'm in the minority here because I think Thursday has a lot of good acts
there's not even like, minor star power this year though.
Maybe the Orwells but I'd argue they've already peaked and aren't as interesting of a booking as they might have been a few years ago.
Whereas in the recent past we've had breakout/bigger acts like Killer Mike, Pusha T, Tove Lo, Courtney Barnett, Mac Demarco, Cashmere Cat, Cloud Nothings, Real Estate, White Denim, etc

I was originally really expecting to see Francis as a late Thursday act.

I'm not disagreeing with you that the lineup is subpar but I don't see myself not having fun on Thursday.
Hippocampus > orwells > the lemon twigs > turkuaz > Kevin abstract > kaiydo
Definitely doesn't have the star power you're talking about but it's still a fun day. Add in mondo cozmo too if you want.

I mean I'm sure there will be some good sets but it's almost all complete no-name acts. Discovering new music is fun and all but I'd like to care about something that day
The Kaiydo booking/time slot is particularly baffling because the dude has like four officially released songs. Why is he closing a tent?

Yeah the kaiydo thing is weird but it could be a fun set. Although I would say there are some well known acts on Thursday (or just recently getting attention).
Posting this just cos I've noticed Jacob Collier has gotten relatively zero buzz around here from what I've seen. He's unfortunately playing same time as BBNG, Blue Grass Sitch, Travis Scott, etc. BUT, he's brilliant. More intriguing jazz-styled artist than BBNG imo. Probably gonna split my time between his set and Blue Grass Sitch.

new James V McMorrow is making the DRAM/Jay Som/JVM conflict a little rougher.
A couple in our group is getting married during JVM near this tent. They frickin love the guy, so I be there watching some nuptials. Should be a pretty cool moment.
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
All three things at that time are interesting to me, but none are must-sees. I'm at a loss, which sucks because RHCP is one if the more skippable headliners for me in my time going to Roo. I could get a really good view of the Jam.

I am normally not to bothered by clashes on my schedule. It is normally pretty easy for me to pick which one I want to see more. But Flume vs Shpongle really upsets me. Those were both must see's for me and are my favorite producers. I think I am gonna go with Shpongle since Flume is more likely to tour around me within the next year. Does anyone know if they let artists closing out stages play past their set times like they did in the past? Shpongle was my first sunrise set in 2011 (I think that was the year).
