Unreal, one of the best festival experiences of my life. So glad I finally went to Shaky Knees. I was so happy to see all the friendly faces, albeit briefly.

Other faves were The War On Drugs, Chicano Batman late night, Parquet Courts, Charly Bliss, Alvvays, The D, and Parcels. The National and Courtney Barnett were both put on a good show but I was either so tired or hot I couldn't focus.
My opinion - which is 100% based on if I could relive this right now
- Manchester orchestra - Japandroids aftershow - The Menzingers - The National - Greta Van Fleet (sorry) - Matt and Kim (sorry again) - David Byrne - Jack White - Basement - Lukas Nelson - Jimmy eat world
Best moments - Manchester Orchestra - the Silence - how did he make it rain? - Lukas Nelson - forget about Georgia - jack White - Ball and Biscuit - Greta Van Fleet - the one that sounds like the zeppelin cover - The National - Graceless
Best smelling fan base - Greta Van Fleet Worst smelling fan base - The Menzingers
Since I wasn't around on Sunday, I'll stick to a top 5.
David Byrne Fleet Foxes (saw the late night show) TWOD QOTSA Jack White
A few random thoughts. - Greta Van Fleet crowd was huge for a mid-afternoon set. Definitely a bit of a gimmick feel to them, but I can understand the draw that they have. I would check them out again when they come through Asheville.
- Jack White ending 20 minutes early was a bummer. David Byrne was easily the show to see for Friday/Saturday.
- Would been neat to see some of you out late after the headliners were over. I know Fleet Foxes/TWOD were pretty expensive, but I had no regrets on pulling the trigger for Fleet Foxes. They came on at exactly 11:45 - over a 90 minute set. Awesome transitions in between songs.
- Can't really complain much about the weather. It was pretty toasty for Courtney's set on Friday. Hector Salamanca and I missed the rain on Saturday.

A friend that was there told me Jack White sat in during Brian Jonestown Massacre, that is badass! Any of y'all see it? Didn't go through anything much but this page.

I wish they weren't during byrne, would have liked to see them again.
I saw the dudes from Post Animal checking out BRMC
Anyone else fill out the survey? I said if they could add another water station and do something about the dust it'd be pretty much perfect.
And I requested these bands:
Broken Social Scene, Janelle Monae, Jonathan Richman, Gunn-Trucinski Duo, The Weather Station, Flat Worms, Rex Orange County, Hinds, Amen Dunes, Bonny Doon, Yo La Tengo
My favorite moment of the entire weekend may have been Andrew WK unironically counting down from 100 to start the last song. I honestly thought he was doing a bit but it fucking worked.

Never got that into The National but wow they really impressed me, also never liked their new song Day I Die, but I loved it live. My group really wasn’t feeling it but I and only a few in my group were having fun in the baseball diamond during their set. I was spinning poi for a short time and mostly playing with my toroflux for anyone who was on the hill watching below. Queens didn’t really do anything for me or anyone in my group, we all never really got into them and their live set didn’t make us anymore of a fan, we were also really tired too, plus I was sad they didn’t play 3s & 7s
Regarding my list, Bryne was magical and everything I wanted. Well I was hoping for Road To Nowhere or The Great Curve but super content with everything he played, such a well choreographed set too!
The Voidz were second for me just because everyone at the fest was at The D including my whole group besides my gf and I (oh and two of my friends who we met up with from my hometown but they were too the side more), that set was so intense and beautiful tho, I was center and two people behind the rail. The crowd, though small, was wild. Perfect setlist, and the only time I’ve seen the crowd at Shaky get an actual encore. And he played I’ll Onlly Live Once :,) Also stuck around after the show and they were throwing stuff to the crowd and I got Alex Carapetis’s drumstick!!!!!! The drummer that touring with The Voidz and Wolfmother and also was the main touring drummer for Nine Inch Nails! So fuckin happy! Plus my friend who I mentioned a second ago got Beardo’s pick! He flicked it right at him!
Jack white was amazing, loved that we got both Steady As She Goes and Seven Nation Army, also freaked out when he played Hardest Button to Button and even did a little sample of Pyscho Killer during! Sad he ended early, I feel like it was the crowd, I know he plays off of the crowd and they weren’t really giving back. Also saw that he was supposed to end and if he went over he would’ve voided his contract. But who knows, still a solid show!
Greta Van Fleet, regardless if they are Zeppelin knock off, they still are phenomenal live, was really underestimating his vocal skills, thought they would be lack luster cause they are young and haven’t been performing long, but boy are they well rehearsed.
Jimmy Eat World, what can I say, just so nostalgic for me. They rank so high for me only because I was looking at their set lists for fests and it seemed they usually play either Get Right OR Hear You Me and I love both of those so much and we got both plus more songs than I see them usually play at fests. I am sad they didn’t play Pass The Baby but oh well
I was farther back getting my groove on for Fleet Foxes cause my group was sitting down in the field resting, sung all the words to practically every song. Probably would’ve been high on my list if I was closer, but from farther back I don’t think his voice transitioned all that well, still a beautiful set and was shocked to hear Oliver James as an encore. I convinced myself to not get my hopes up for that song.
Parquet Courts was so fun, What a party! I never listened to them much but their set made me want to be a huge fan, super happy they played One Man No City!
Sir Sly was really fun live, been listening to them a lot for Roo and excited to see them again, he shaved his head and I like his look a lot more now, also was surprised how much they sounded like their recording. Super bummed tho that it looks like they never play Too Far Gone, why?? I really like that song and it’s their third most listened to on Spotify.
Cake was.. I dunno I think they sounded better live here than when I saw them at Roo, but their setlist at Roo was perfect for me, their shaky one was a let down. Happy I got to hear Frank Sinatra, but that’s about it. Plus the 5 minute intro song was unnecessary, along with the 15 minutes of talking. Could’ve played around 5 other songs but instead fucked around with the crowd and talked. Almost made me wish I went to Matt & Kim, still haven’t seen them and wanted too but wanted to be with everyone for Cake because that was a band everyone on my group wanted to see.
And last for my top 10 would be Franz, they put on a fun show and were how I expected them to sound.
