A lot to consider on this. I already know I'm out for Sunday. Could either just do a day pass on Friday, catch a day show or two, and go all out for Fleet Foxes -> David Byrne -> Jack White -> War on Drugs. I could also get a weekend pass, take it easier on Friday and skip Fleet Foxes, and then on Saturday night do War on Drugs -> QOTSA -> Fleet Foxes.
I'm leaning towards option 2. Driving down from Asheville on Friday and doing fours shows in a row to end the night just seems like too much. I've had Saturday in Atlanta penciled in for awhile. I'm about positive I can get a little return on my wristband for Sunday as is.
Friday is tougher with either the close to home show at Earl with Bryan Jonestown or the fantastic War on Drugs that I’ve seen many times.
Saturday with Fleet Foxes at Variety vs Japandroids is tough. Gotta do the Fleet Foxes though to get the proper set since I’ve never seen em. Japandroids great live energy; saw em in Athens at 40 Watt and at Variety last year also so i highly recommend. They even killed it at Sasquatch when their equipment went out; kinda awesome actually watching him scream his way through the set with no microphone working in front of that many people in spite of the technical difficulties they were faced with.
All my late picks are gonna be Friday bands that I fear conflicts with at Shsku because that day is so stacked.
Probably getting Fleet Foxes tix because i'm expecting/ hoping for Courtney>Byrne>Jack White on the same stage on Friday so I don't have to leave and can be right up close for Jack.
Are those late nights kind of meh or is that just my festival fatigue acting up?
I was thinking it's the best they've had. But on second thought that has to the year they had Spiritualized.
Anyone going to Melvins or at least one of the Masq shows? Apparently it's a bad area and I shouldn't go solo.
I'm not going but you'll be fine. Five Points is a blighted area and has plenty of homeless folks hanging around so it gets a bad rap but if you go there when there's a concert crowd you should be fine.
You went to that Lightning Bolt show at Mammal Gallery, right? The venue is between Mammal Gallery and Five Points Marta station.
I would imagine War on Drugs and Fleet Foxes will sell out quickly tomorrow.
These were the two I was thinking as well. Some will sell out within a week or two. Some will have tickets at the door. I'm always surprised at a few shows' sales.
Was really hoping for Courtney to play one but oh well. Just spent all my money on AM tickets so there’s no way I can get FF or TWOD tomorrow. Probably going to go with Parquet Courts and Melvins.
Was thinking about Fleet Foxes until I saw that the tix are $66 pre-fees. I think I'll skip the late nights this year, except maybe the Black Angels since tickets are not that bad ($23 pre-fees) and Friday is stacked.

Nah, I didn't make it to that. I haven't been to the new Masq but I've been in that Marta station.

Shaky Knees consistently has the best after-shows of any fest. Still wish I was making it down for this one, but a little too much overlap with other fests I’m attending.
Is it just me or do the late night shows this year seem way more expensive than last year? The most expensive last year i remember was Portugal ($35 maybe?) where as this year several are in the 60-70 range and even some of the smaller shows are in the 25-35 range.

They've had some that were around $40. Fleet Foxes is so high because that's a tiny venue for them. Probably the same with TWOD and JEW.

You'll be fine. Just be aware of your surroundings and so on.
I walked by myself from Centennial Olympic Park to the Masquerade last year and got lost like five times and it was fine. Everybodys out right after the fest lets out so its not really bad out.
I'd Imagine it'd be Bynre>Jack White on one stage with Fleet Foxes playing in between right?
I was actually thinking it'd be the opposite with Fleet Foxes > Jack White because David Byrne probably has his own production and would benefit more playing when it gets dark out. But that probably would also mean David Byrne vs Courtney Barnett which I would be very unhappy with. So if someone could tell me I'm wrong that would be great.

I agree that Byrne would benefit from closing a stage after dark but I NEED courtney>byrne>jack in my life. SOOOOOOO, you're fretting for no reason.
