really good scheduling. But super sad about Tenacious D and The Voidz. Those are the only two I really really cared about to see. Both seem like they never do shows. Have a feeling The Voidz would be booked at Roo before Tenacious D would be booked again. So I’m torn. The rest of the scheduled is perfect for me. Besides Matt & Kim vs Cake. I’ve seen Cake before and missed Matt & Kim at Roo besides their last song I was running over when daylight was playing. But my group will want to see Cake more so I know where I’ll be. Ugh this Voidz vs The D is really killing me tho. Julian Casablancas is like my favorite but I know every song to Tenacious D and said I’d get a tattoo if they were there. And I just hate splitting sets. Any advise??
Do Tenacious D. They’re the rarer show and you could probably catch The Voidz a few times over the next couple years since it looks like The Strokes are done for a bit.
see that’s what I think I should do because Tenacious D is the rarer choice. I hope the Voidz announce some actual tour dates so I can maybe see them somewhere
Here's the policy for anyone else too lazy to go to the site.
Bags will be restricted to small purses and draw string bags and may not exceed 14” x 11” x 5” (35cm x 28cm x 12cm). Backpacks and bags with multiple pockets are prohibited. Camelback’s are allowed, but must be empty and have only one additional pocket.
that seems to be the new standard for fests. In Bloom had the same policy. at least they're telling you ahead of time and not right before which i think okeechobee did.
i emailed them about the bags, and at first they said drawstring bags are the only ones accepted, so i replied back with a few photos of different kinds and they all had pockets.. they replied back saying "those should be ok but it's up to security when you get there"

You gotta hit them with a "Please provide a clear definition of acceptable bags on your website and an assurance that security has the same information." Do it for all of us.

i suggested they make a post on social media clarifying, we'll see if they actually do it

So glad I bought the late night Black Angels, Brian Jonestown and Fleet Foxes tix so as not to conflict with Franz Ferdinand, David Byrne and Japandroids at the Festival Friday; agreed it is well scheduled overall by the Shaky curators so great job. Especially Friday and Saturday. Hard to complain as it’s sorted out pretty nice by my tastes but Sunday I wish Post Animal and Alvvays were at different times as well as the already mentioned Voids/Tenacious D conundrum. Still psyched to see lots of excellent music with the National closing it all out is pretty glorious!!

I can’t even get my lip gloss in something that size.
I'm gonna email em because I have to bring medical supplies. I will be pissed if these god damned domestic terrorists have ruined my ability to properly prepare for my medical problems at festivals.
I can't decide how I feel about Greta Van Fleet. This is the first time I've actually listened to them. I'm going back and forth between anger because they sound almost exactly like Zeppelin and enjoying it because they sound almost exactly like Zeppelin and that's impressive.

Led Zeppelin stole songs from other lesser known artists their entire career. They eventually gave most of them credit but not after they tried to rip them off. This is fact and they are terrible artists because of it. Great musicians, terrible artists.

Keith Richards is a gigantic asshole as well who is probably the most overrated guitarist of all time. All he does now is just slam artists significantly better than him.

You love Jack White though, right? Don't get me wrong, I'm a major Jack fanboy. But I definitely see some parallels between him and Led Zepp
Jack’s an asshole for sure but as far as I know, he doesn’t rip off lesser known artists.
It wasn't really lesser artists. Rock n Roll was a new thing at the time and a lot of them started out playing all of their blues favorites. I wouldn't say copying, even though they had to give credit later. Jack is or I should say was playing the same kind of stuff Zeppelin was playing influenced by the old blues guys.

Right, but they directly rip-off several well known songs and artists without crediting them until much later. I believe other artists paying homage at the time at least properly credited their samples or covers.

Blues and jazz artists play old pieces to this day but Zeppelin ripped off segments of songs, melodies, riffs, lyrics, etc without credit and called it their own. It’s very different than the folk and blues influence Jack gets. Zeppelin exploited blues at every turn.
