What's really funny is they acted like they'd never heard of Led Zeppelin until after they started writing songs
? Where did you hear this. I remember seeing an interview where they talked about not having a lot growing up and their parents would just play the same records over and over, some obviously being Zeppelin. Maybe I'm misremembering.

"I didn't know who fucking Led Zeppelin was until high school."
I misremembered a bit myself, but they make it sound like they were already doing their thing before knowing who Led Zeppelin was.
They're liars.
Pretending they never heard of the musical act that they're ripping off, while said musical act ripped off more than they could chew in they're career. Soooo meta!!!1 typical millenials amirite guys

Led Zeppelin definitely was in debt to blues pioneers, but they really forged their own style. John Bonham basically invented the hip hop beat, and Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones were two of the best British session musicians of the 60's.. this band is a god damn joke compared to Led Zeppelin. They're only pleading ignorance about Led Zeppelin's influence because they think it lends them some legitimacy, I'd assume. Greta Van Fleet is the most blatant ripoff of another band's sound I've ever heard.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb
Greta Van Fleet is awesome live, I saw them in a small club in NOLA last fall. I even sacrificed seeing ohGr's opening set for KMFDM down the street so I could see them.
No other band that young rocks that hard. Everyone there was loving it. They are completely derivative of Zeppelin, sure, and that's fine with me. If I want cutting edge music there is plenty of it out there.
The people bitching the hardest about GVF are probably the same losers that will be loving every second of Matt & Kim and ride around listening to shit like Lumineers and 21 Pilots probably.
Did the haters also hate Tame Impala when Innerspeaker came out? Because that was a huge ripoff of Magical Mystery Tour era Beatles which was f'n incredible.
All shitposting aside, I hadn't checked this thread since the daily schedule came out, may have to try to come for Friday night. Jack, Bryne, Black Angels, Brian Jonestown Massacre, looks like fun! Will be seeing Jack at Jazzfest that Sunday but would def not mind seeing him twice, been like 6 years since I've seen him at all.
