Yes, 100%, don't feel obliged to accompany others if it doesn't align with your tastes or desires.
I would personally go with The Voidz since you really dig their new album, because they may not play the same amount of material from that record in subsequent tours.
see I’m a huge Strokes fan too and love Julian’s solo stuff and fell in love with The Voidz when they first came out with Tyranny. I know Tenacious D is harder too see and I always tell myself to make that choice when I have the chance. But damn. Everyone here seems to not be making it easier lol, still seems split evenly. At least I have 30 more days of crying to decide.
Why even try to decide now? Just do what you feel like at the fest.
And definitely don't try to keep a group of seven together the whole time. Y'all should just go to whatever sets you feel like and meet up with whatever friend has picked each one. Everyone will be much happier that way.
haha I’m just a planner type person when it comes to festival schedules, I like to know who I’m gonna see then make a playlist and constantly listen to the music I’m going to see. And I’m not keeping my group of 7 together, I know for some sets people won’t care to see and will just do whatever. I just meant the people I’m going with all like the same music and are happy with the schedule besides The D vs Voidz conflict, everyone’s gonna go to any set they like, I just know my group is excited about the same bands I am. I just meant I have friends that want to see Tenacious D with me and friends that really want to see The Voidz with me, then friends in the group that are torn and don’t know who to pick either. I’m assuming we are gonna be half split up between those sets.

That's a great point that I never considered. So many songs from bands I like that are now gone down the setlist void(z) of no return...unless they do one of those "_____ albums in full."
They should've just done the smart thing and swapped Tenacious D and Vance Joy.
And my input: It sounds like you would feel a lot more regret not seeing The Voidz so I would choose that. And Julian was on point when The Strokes played Shaky.

that’s exactly what I said on insta, they should’ve given Tenacious D the main stage where Vance Joy is. I know there might be some fans of both Vance Joy and Voidz but it seems it would be a lot less shared fans than The D and Voidz in my opinion. Thanks for your input tho, I feel like you’re right and I would end up regretting not seeing the Voidz more.
Thank you to everyone giving me your input. I’ll still be waiting to see how I feel when I’m at Shaky to decide who to see during that conflict. But for now it seems like I’m goong with The Voidz. Just feel weird also saying I’ll get a shaky tattoo if Tenacious D is there and not even seeing Tenacious D lol. Oh well, Here’s to hoping Tenacious D gets booked at Roo next year. Regardless at what set you guys go too I hope you all have an awesome weekend at Shaky!
By the way I’ve been checking out Stop Light Observations. They are really cool but weird. It’s like if Imagine Dragons and Rainbow Kitten Surprise had a baby and then Young the Giant and The Arcs had a baby and then those two babies grew up and fucked and had a baby together, it would be Stop Light Observations.

Saw them at Firefly a couple years ago they won the big break contest and got to play the fest. They are fantastic live, you won’t be disappointed.

Friday: run around like a fucking child > Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever > Rival Sons > ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ > Jimmy Eat World/Waxahatchee > Courtney Barnett > Franz Ferdinand > David Byrne maybe > Fleet Foxes > Jack White
If my plus 1 is unable to go, I will just camp for Jack White.
Saturday: Bully > ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ > Parquet Courts > Manchester Orchestra > Chicano Batman/TWoD > CAKE/Matt & Kim > QotSA
Sunday: Sir Sly > Alvvays/Post Animal (depends on Bonnaroo schedule) > Parcels > Lord Huron > Vance Joy > maybe The Voidz (if my plus 1 doesn't wanna camp for The National) > The National
If anyone has some suggestions for me during my ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ spots, undecided ones, or just in general, lmk! I could use some earlier set suggestions.

You can guess what Greta Van Fleet sounds like so why not give Charly Bliss a try?

there is something about her voice that isn't doing it for me.

Ezra Furman Friday (Walk on in Darkness) Broncho Saturday (Try Me Out Sometime)

If anyone lives in Atlanta or otherwise comes across someone that needs to unload their ticket for face (or less ), please let me know. I see a bunch for cheap on Craigslist. I'm not asking anyone to go out and buy a band for me, but if it comes up..
Think I've figured out my schedule: Friday - Welles -> RBCF -> ? -> Ezra Furman -> Waxahatchee -> Courtney Barnett -> Black Angels -> David Byrne -> Fleet Foxes -> Jack White -> BJM Late Night
Saturday - Bayonne -> Sun Seeker -> Torres -> Bully -> Broncho -> GVF (by myself, apparently) -> Circa Survive -> Jacob Banks -> Manchester Orchestra -> War on Drugs -> Cake -> QOTSA -> LA Witch/Japandroids Late Night
Sunday - (Going to Braves game) -> Lord Huron -> Nathaniel Rateliff -> Vance Joy -> Tenacious D -> National
All-in-all, not nearly as many conflicts as expected, though part of that is because of late nights/shows leading up to the fest.

I'm officially in. Now trying to decide on late nights. Leaning towards Circa Friday and in between Post Animal and Waxahatchee/Charly Bliss for Saturday.

Elaborate on complete jerks. Get drunk on Friday nights and pee on the side of the local baptist church. Shoot up fentanyl laced herion and run over cats with their four wheelers. Expose themselves outside an elementary school at recess.
Just thought I'd chime in to see if anyone has a GA wristband they'd like to unload. Aside for having a (refundable) flight booked I'm not 100% committed, but I'd like to be.
