“Boston's biggest music festival retrurns to Harvard Athletic Complex from May 25th-27th. This year's headliners include Eminem, The Killers, Jack White, Queens of the Stone Age, The National, Paramore, Tyler, The Creator and Khalid plus so many more.”
pretty sure I saw some random on the firefly fb group post this
This is lining up...I just checked Ticketmaster and there are only single seats left for The Killers on Sunday night. Maybe that's close enough to a sell-out to provide an exception to the standard contractual clause that an act can't announce a subsequent show in a market until the upcoming one has already taken place.
Maybe The Killers Garden tickets sold well-enough that LiveNation told Boston Calling/Crash Line/MSG to go ahead and announce the lineup, deciding to not enforce that clause.
(Had I known, I wouldn't have picked up a ticket for the Garden show a week ago.)

Do we think Tyler and Khalid are actually 7/8 or is that just who's included for promotional purposes?
Actually 7/8. Kiss 108 FM would not have included The National just for promotional purposes.
It's more about what BC would send out. It'd make sense to include a good spread of artists, which this does. Those two just seem a little weak when you consider that last year 7/8 were Weezer and The 1975, who were followed by Sigur Ros and Solange

I've never seen The National or QOTSA so this is looking good to me. Also think it's unfair to judge the lineup with only the top 8 names revealed, but to each their own.
