Arcade Fire playing TD Garden on September 15. Do we think that rules them out?
Eh I would think it's far out enough to keep them in play. I'm curious how their TD show will sell. I forgot if they sold out Xfinity, but I managed to get floor tickets a week or so before it happened. Granted it's a pretty far out venue compared to the TD.

Think that show will sell out, or is this a wait-until-the-day-before-and-stubhub type? I'mm pretty sure that Xfinity show did NOT sell well. Hard to tell because of their non-reselling systems in place then.

Just realized Chance played Boston last Sept. Although that Blue Hills was probably small for him and TD probably won't sell out. I'll still keep my fingers crossed.

The National also have a date at the Bosch Center in October and I'm so certain they're gonna play this. I think their show sold out the day of.
I'm not about to attempt a full mock, since my knowledge of up-and-coming pop, EDM, and rap performers is minimal, but I am ready to predict the three 2018 headliners.
OASIS -- EMINEM -- LORDE
You idiot.
Not sure what that came from. This top line makes sense, in terms of having a stylistically diverse top line covering rock, rap, and pop (and they were going for a variety in their top line this year.)
Oasis reunion rumors have been swirling around for awhile. Eminem seems due for a festival circuit run next year. He hasn't been on the circuit (lately or ever?) and it's been a few years since he and Rihanna played a bunch of ballparks as co-headliners. Lorde is that rare pop artist who can get airplay on indie rock, adult alternative, and top 40 radio stations. She's a pop artist with critical credibility from all quarters, not just from the pop specialists. She seems like an artist with staying power.

Lmao there is not enough money in the world to convince Marr to get back together with Morrissey especially after their very different response to last month's bombing.
I could see Lorde happening to be fair. Wouldn't mind at all too, she was great at Coachella.

I'm just waiting until the day no one gives a shit about Morrissey anymore
One thing I hope for next year is a proper merch lineup shirt for guys. I was jealous to see that red lineup shirt my female friend got next to my black one I had bought. I was seriously debating how deep a V I could pull off. How many people had to give the ok on that print before it was realized that you can't see a black dog on a faded black shirt - so stupid. Even sticking with the theme of the festival, a blue or green shirt would have been appreciated.
With the lineup? I saw three male shirt - one with an old-fashion Bostonian, one with the state a star on Allston, MA, and then the faded black shirt with the Terrier on the front and the lineup on the back. That was the one I purchased and most people who have seen it have made note of the fact they can barely make out the Terrier on the front of the shirt because they are too close in tone.

I thought the non-reselling systems for that show were only for the best tickets (such as floor). Indeed, Xfinity Center didn't sell well at all. There were a fuck ton of giveaways and empty seats, to the point that you were easily able to move around in your respective section for a better spot.
Great show nonetheless, but that whole tour underperformed. Groupon was even selling discounted seats in some markets. Therefore, I don't see TD Garden selling out, nor Boston Calling booking them so soon again next year.

That tour was also incredibly ambitious. They did a Connecticut show months before Xfinity, a Maine show the day after, and the whole thing was announced half a year before taking place. I think their TD show will do a lot better, but it won't be an instant sell out.
Also if their Montreal show is any indication, all tickets are resellable this tour. No CC-only entry for floor.
I've got a stand-up gig Saturday night and it's going to be videotaped, so if anyone wants a free ticket to see Nick Cave at the Wang, message me here. You'll need to come up to Arlington some time this week, or meet me earlier in the day on Saturday in Boston/Cambridge/Brookline.
Now, I would not be a fan of this, but I could see them bumping 21 Pilots up to a headliner spot if they have another successful year. For some reason they have a HUGE Boston fanbase, and if they balanced it with something like Arcade Fire/Kendrick/21 Pilots, it would sell very well I think.

Pretty sure it is just a HUGE fanbase, but I completely agree
Kendrick and 21P has a ton of overlap (believe it or not)

Just throw on something great on the blue stage at the same time like QOTSA, Fleet Foxes, or St. Vincent and I couldn't care less, other than the potential for even worse crowds that day

Got a closer look at the grounds today, the areas that the green and red stages were on are SERIOUSLY fucked up. Way worse than any of the standing areas near the stages were on the Friday. looks like someone tore through there with a monster truck
So, Boston Calling sent out an e-mail with a link to a short Survey Monkey survey.
Here's the text of the e-mail:
We wanted to take a moment and say THANK YOU for joining us at Boston Calling! We are already hard at work on improvements to the festival for next year and are taking all your feedback to heart. Along with keeping all the stuff you loved, we are adding way more food options and vendors, expanding entrance lanes, adding huge and clear signage and maps around the site, layout out restroom banks for shorter lines and providing far more recycling/trash receptacles in key spots. There will also be many more Boston Calling information staff to help you navigate around the site with ease. (And we will be adding some surprises we won’t tell you about right now.)
To make sure next year’s festival is as great as possible, please share your feedback with us by taking this short survey – your feedback is our most important source of information and ultimately how we grade ourselves. We care deeply about your experience and will always be working harder to improve every year. We appreciate your time, and as always, some lucky respondents will win tickets for next year’s festival!
Question 4 on the survey asks who we would like to see them book.
I think we should all have at least one common answer, try to push them in that direction.
I'm putting The Mountain Goats, Baroness, and Vince Staples
I can't recall the exact answer I gave. It was something along the lines of Wilco, Oasis (if they reunite), Liam Gallagher (if they don't), Dawes, Ryan Adams (although not Dawes and Ryan Adams on the same day, for the obvious reason), Chris Stapleton, Margo Price, System Of A Down, and Ted Leo. Forgot to list my usual pick of Guided By Voices, but I'll get that in on Twitter, when they ask for suggestions there.
I left off acts I'm seeing elsewhere in the forthcoming months (see signature below).

I already submitted it with LCD Sounsdsystem, Arcade Fire, and They Might Be Giants
They do like booking bands with Boston area roots, so that would bode well for TMBG. Back when terrestrial radio stations used to organize a lot of free concerts around town, they'd always do a free show every year. I've seen them half a dozen times or more, but have only paid to see them headline once. The other times, it was a free show or they were the opening act.
