idk who was watching the coachella stream last night, but I'm so excited for St. Vincent now. Saw her at Day for Night without a band, and it just wasn't enjoyable, the fact that the band is back is going to make for an awesome set. And if it ends up going Royal Blood > St. Vincent > QOTSA > Jack White I'm gonna lose my shit at some point so much loud guitar rock.

The Weeknd's coachella set last night was boring as hell. Would've loved Janet over Eminem.
I enjoyed the hell out of it. Still would’ve been 10x a better booking than The Killers.
I get that it's not an inspired booking, but I've only walked away from Killers sets feeling so good and happy. It's musical vodka, not the most inspired choice, but it just makes you feel so good. I'm looking forward to their set.

I'm just thankful Boston calling is early enough in the year that we avoided Janet Jackson/The Weeknd
Yeah, we avoided getting two headliners that would’ve actually made the top lines less white and boring.
sooooooo thankful. 🙄
ok Janet Jackson's not bad but she's just not my cup of tea. also I find The Weeknds latest music so boring. like i agree that the top line is boring as fuck but I'd see The Killers and Jack White at least because i haven't had the opportunity to see em in the past. if it was something like Kendrick Lamar - Florence + The Machine - Arctic Monkeys that would have been ideal IMO. even a curveball like Rihanna would've been awesome.

I can't deal with the Coachella livestream because every time I turn it on, my desire to be at a music festival right NOW is overwhelming. Memorial Day weekend can't come soon enough, although I've got a few nice shows to tide me over until then...like the closest thing to an Oasis concert I'm going to see in 2018.

seeing both st vincent and brockhampton on the coachella stream has increase calling hype by 200%
St. Vincent and Brockhampton will probably overlap, at least partially - my guess is St. Vincent on Green, Brockhampton on Blue.
Best case scenario is Brockhampton being mostly up against Royal Blood on Red, and partially against the start of St. Vincent on Green. Like Wolf Parade last year vs. RTJ and Cage on Sunday.

Agreed. Ideally I'd wanna see St Vincent, Brockhampton, QOTSA, Tyler, the Creator, and Jack White but I'll prob only be able to see 2 of em in full.

damn that sucks to hear. i’d have to go with st vincent in that scenario.
So, Eminem brought Dr. Dre and 50 Cent onstage with him at Coachella, neither of whom are likely to show up at Boston Calling. But his setlist does include his "Dream On" rewrite "Sing For The Moment," which suggests that Joe Perry would be a natural fit for a guest appearance during his set. (I don't think that Tyler even lives in the area anymore, but the rest of the band lives in eastern MA.)
IMHO, Aerosmith hasn't been worthy of attention since the 70's, but they are a local institution and it makes immense sense for the band and Boston Calling to intersect in some way.
(I heard that Jack White's got a Brad Delp hologram planned for his set.)

Also, just got an email about the special acoustic set things. Didn't realize we had to RSVP and then hope to win tickets for them. What if it's an act I don't particularly care about?

Oh damn.. I've been sitting here refreshing my inbox for 20 minutes. Still haven't received anything..

Anyone receive an email yet for the secret acoustic performances ?
I had forgotten about it and submitted just before noon for Sunday only, even though I'm going to be there all three days. The only potential acoustic set which interests me across the three days would be Colin Meloy, so I didn't want to muddy the waters by selecting all three days and having to sit through the nightmare of a Josh Homme acoustic set.
I haven't gotten a "you're in" or "sorry dude" e-mail yet. Are they sending out "you're not a winner" notices, too, or only notifying people who did get in?

That's the ridiculous thing about doing it this way. 75% of the people who get in may not be fans of the particular performer.
Why not just announce the names and let people enter to see a specific performer? That way, at least the 50 people who get in will want to be there.

Got an e-mail from Front Gate Tickets with tracking info for my Boston Calling wristband. Apparently if it doesn't show up within 48 hours of the event, you can reach out to them with your order number and the last four digits of the credit card used for the purchase, and they'll set you up with replacements at Will Call.
Remember, you've got to have a wristband, my man...

thats pretty good, also agreed. I'd like more White Stripes hits like hardest button to button and fell in love with a girl
Just checked out the Gov Ball schedule and, for me, it really hammered home the message that the Boston Calling lineup is so much better. Some of the acts on that schedule which seemed most appealing to me are also playing Boston Calling and I'll probably miss them because there are acts at BC I want to see that much more.
There were a few gaps where I could go for an hour or two without anything I want to see at Gov Ball. We definitely won AL East city festival bragging rights this year.
I just hope we get the BC schedule soon, to see where the conflicts lie.
So I don't even know if I'm attending his set, but Eminem has 70 minutes at Roo and an hour 45 at gov ball, what do you think we're getting?
Hour and a half
I watched his Coachella stage entrance on YouTube and it was pretty impressive. I don't know if BC will be able to accommodate the same visuals. It seemed like even undercard acts at Coachella had impressive lighting/video arrays. We'll see.
