This is a really great point and something I did not think about. Thanks for pointing it out. Sorry you couldn't get tickets at first, but you're probably right about the later release of certain tickets. There's still a decent amount of single tickets left (albeit back of the balcony seats).
That's the case for Saturday night, but there are a lot of balcony seats left for Sunday night, not just single seats.
Still, if all that's left is balcony, they probably will sell out or come darn close to it before the need will arise to find alternate means to selling the remaining seats.
I do understand that the vast majority of people these days have smartphones, but this is the first instance I've seen where something generally accessible in the marketplace is completely limited to phone owners. If you can't take Uber/Lyft, you can take a cab. If you can't take advantage of Moviepass "all you can view" for $10 per month, you can still pay full price at the movie theater. But the only way to see Radiohead on this tour is to have a mobile phone.
Damn, bands start requiring you to carry a smart phone before you can get into their show and, the next thing you know, the promoter requires a face!!!!! That's not going to work at a Billy Idol concert.

They know that the second they drop the schedule half of the people who have tickets will decide to sell them.
1. I doubt that's the case
2. Let the market flood. I been holding out for a bargain.
this was my theory from last year, which i think will hold true this year:
many many basics in boston (aka most college students and fresh out of college kids who aren't really THAT into music) bought tickets when the lineup came out cause it was the cool thing to do, ooo big music festival that i can wear my flower crown and mom jeans to! mumfson! eminemenem! mr. brightside!. then as it got closer, and thus the release of more details like the schedule, those basics hear about their other friends memorial day plans of going to the vineyard, nantuck, beach in general/out of the city, and they say, "oh that sounds more fun i wanna go to the beach!" But wait, i have these tickets. fuck it, ill just get rid of them for whatever or just eat the cost

Another act has been added to Friday, according to the lineup page on the BC site:
Clarice Jensen & ACME
My theory is that they're performing with The National, so AD arranged for them to perform their own set, too.
This is just a theory, but one in which I'm sufficiently confident that I would bet money on it. (There should be a music festival version of the sports book, where gambling music fans can bet upon lineups, schedules, conflicts, no-shows, late additions, weather, etc.)
