Apologies is this has already been addressed, but why the hell are Dirty Projectors billed/scheduled so low? They were second on their day at Pitchfork last year... maybe I just have my own little bubble so they seem like a bigger get to me, but idk

It's not the conflicts that bother me here, but the logistics. I was hoping for a Friday afternoon "NPR's Favorite Indie Rock Artists Of 2017" run of Charly Bliss, Big Thief, (Sandy) Alex G, and Perfume Genius entirely at one end of the grounds or the other (preferably Blue), but splitting those acts between opposite ends of the grounds means that there's no possible way to hear all four sets in their entirety.
Even without stopping at the portolets, there's no way I'm making that trip in five minutes.
Last year's buffet approach left me feeling like I didn't really see half of the acts I saw, so I'd rather skip some acts I want to see than feel stressed out about having to rush from Blue to Red/Green and visa versa.
I'm opting for Big Thief and Perfume Genius on Friday. I saw (Sandy) Alex G at the The Sinclair and liked it a whole lot, but it wasn't a life-changing experience, and I suspect that Charly Bliss will be around at The Sinclair or Brighton Music Hall within the next year (although not too soon, since they're opening for Death Cab's two nights at the Wang this fall.)
And I'll see Noname and not (Sandy) Alex G, when I'd rather see (S)AG more, because the travel time likely wipes out his first three songs for me.
This is all very subject to change for me. If I manage to get out my door earlier, on one day or another, I might end up catching an extra couple of acts, but I'm scheduling realistically here.
As alluded to in my last post, in a couple of instances, I'm not even seeing the act I'd like to see most in every timeslot. Travel time on the grounds, food time, and time off my feet in the Blue stage bleachers all factor into the metrics here.
Friday:
3:25 - 4:05 Big Thief (G)
5:00 - 5:45 (Sandy) Alex G (B)
6:20 - 7:15 Pussy Riot (B)
8:00 - 9:15 The National (R) 9:20 - 10:50 The Killers (G)
STL GLD, Field Report, Zola Jesus, and Alvvays are all worth checking out earlier in the day. Decemberists, Stormzy, and Fleet Foxes will all be great sets
Also David Cross' standup is great if that's your thing

I've seen all 3 of the latter in the past year, so at this point I'm indifferent. Feel like David Cross will be tough to get into.
A bit of additional news. BC tweeted that there's going to be some sort of IKEA tent/lounge where you can sit and relax on their furniture and eat free veggie dogs. The veggie dogs actually look quite good, as they've covered in both beige and purple stuff. It looks exactly the way food looks in television commercials, after a young child has fiddled with the color and contrast settings on your TV set.

Might still go to a day of this. If I were going all 3 days it would look something like:
Friday: Noname > Portugal the Man > Paramore > The Killers Saturday: Manchester Orchestra > Royal Blood > St Vincent > QOTSA > Jack White Sunday: Julien Baker > Decemberists > Fleet Foxes > Eminem
The worst conflicts of the fest are Brockhampton vs. whatever else is on at the time, and the Julien Baker vs. Thundercat overlap.
Oh yeah, you've got the second most interesting stretch of the comedy lineup, IMHO, Royal Blood, and St. Vincent all overlapping with Brockhampton to some degree.
But I remember leaving City Hall Plaza one day when I had some interest in staying for Brand New and Modest Mouse, because the thought of watching Tegan and Sara and Bastille felt like torture.
We've finally got a grown-up fest in Boston and this is what happens at grown-up fests. Conflicts are so much better than no choice at all.

I like the idea of doing something to alleviate the Comedy Thunderdome lines, but it's a shame that this just creates a whole new layer of tasks that you have to complete to see the comedy and podcasts. Queue up early enough before the gates open, hope that the people ahead of you aren't interested in arena wristbands, and run like hell to the arena and hope that they still have wristbands left.
I do think they should open up the Guaranteed Admission to VIP, not just Platinum. You're asking people to pay twice as much for tickets, you should deliver as much value as you can, while still reserving some even greater perks for Platinum.
Here's a better idea for next year....set up another outdoor stage for stand-up comedy, which will work on a bigger outdoor stage, and use the arena for podcasts and author/celebrity Q&A sessions, which won't work on a large outdoor stage. There's obviously strong demand for standup comedy, and I'm willing to bet that more people would be interested in seeing David Cross on a big stage than The Decemberists at the same time (and I *like* The Decemberists).

There's 1,000 wristbands available per day, you can walk like a turtle once the gates open and still receive one.
Also, comedy is far from guaranteed to work well on a large outdoor stage. A closed off tent allows for better ambiance and crowd etiquette.

I bet using the stadium for something (really big headliner or something else) is in their long-term plans. Only problem is getting that many people in and out without absolutely destroying everything. At least the fields they use now are just practice fields and for soccer, tennis, field hockey etc.

Plenty of stand-up comedians perform at arenas. While Green/Red would be way too big for stand-up comedy, something along the lines of a Blue stage-sized stage and audience area would be perfect. While Harvard and the neighborhood residents probably don't want an additional music stage, you could put an outdoor comedy stage close to the stadium and maybe put more portolets, food & beer, and some sort of gaming/e-sports/pinball tent between the Blue stage and the comedy stage.
Meanwhile, the arena can host podcasts, celebrity/author/academic Q&As (how cool would a conversation with Neil deGrasse Tyson be?), poetry readings, etc.
