Was Aldous Harding an addition or has she always been on there?
EVERY BAND IN THE WORLD: "Hey, we're playing Desert Daze w/ blah, blah, blah" ME:
She was there when the lineup was initially announced.
But, I share your feelings. East Coast needs a lineup like this.
Sadly, I'm not sure the east coast could handle these lineups. One of my favorite in recent memory found themselves without a home after 5 years of NY/NJ. At one point you could find weekend tickets to see MBV for $1 on Craigs List.
That's not a joke.
The lineup's were similar enough. It seems this edges out in the location department. I'm going to make this happen one year though. I promise.

I believe you are talking about ATP festivals. Looking at the lineups, I'm crying right now.
But I think that back in 2007/8, festivals were not as popular as they are right now. Maybe it would happen. I dunno.
I'm gonna have to do Moogfest, Big Ears, Basilica Soundscape etc. instead. Not the same thing, but still perfect for my tastes.
A lot of "if's" to work through but I was unaware that my wife's conference was in Vegas this particular week. I'm already looking at airfare and making my flying/camping list.

considering going to this in october. has anyone gone before. is the VIP ticket worth it if you got it? is it crowded? any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
So who all is going to this? I'm strongly considering camping solo.
do you have a camping pass? I don't have a camping pass or tickets yet. I will know for sure 100% if I am going by the end of the week, looking at bout 75% right now (juggling new job scheduling, dissertation defense scheduling, and wife work trip scheduling). I'll be rolling solo as well.

Yeah actually, I got my ticket and camping pass now! Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to take time off, so I'll probably be getting there late Friday and leaving early Sunday. Pricing and timing are not ideal for me, but I can't stop thinking about this festival so I said fuck it. First time doing a festival solo too.
this lineup looks even better every time I look at it. So jealous of you guys going.
Let me know if you have any recommendations for bands to check out.
My can't miss bands would be Spiritualized, Sleep, John Cale, Panda Bear, Hope Sandoval, Liars, Aldous Harding, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Drugdealer. Can't go wrong with the majority of this lineup though.

yeah, I wouldn't be getting there until Friday either, probably mid-afternoon or so. I'll let you know this week if I can make it.

BBNG and EODM are the only acts that aren't super intersting to me on it. as far as the lesser names, Allah las are cool, Atlas sound is brad cox of deerhunters side project, black moth super rainbow is a tobacco side project (or the other way around, not sure), khruangbin is tight, cigs after sex are good, sunflower bean, Goggs is Ty Segall sideproject, drugdealer is really good (he was Run DMT if you're familiar with that). i saw froth and jjuujuu last year and both of them were pretty awesome.
Ohh I didn't know Atlas Sound was a Deerhunter thing, I thought it was the band Atlas Genius who I don't like. I'll have to give them a listen.
ha, yeah, first time I heard Brad was AS the first thing I thought of was that quacking Trojans song. Parallax is a good album, not a bad place to start, idk if him hitting the road again means new stuff or what.
