I went to Snalleygaster Beer Festival here a few years ago and it was pretty cramped. It was a rather small parking lot. Probably 3-4k max I would think?

It has been pretty small in the past, but if they're doing three days maybe they're expanding the grounds. They use nearby warehouses for shows all the time, so it'd be feasible.

Didn't realize there was surrounding possibilities. Either way I don't need much of an excuse to get down to DC. Hoping for The National since they are skipping DC and I think they are doing a bunch of Live Nation venues on their tour.

Had no idea this was a thing. DC isn't too far away from me and The National are my favorite band, so if The National is there, I'll definitely have to consider it.

Last year was alright. Lots of mud everywhere (which didn't really bother me though), crowd was hit-or-miss, bands were okay (Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit) but I had seen better sets from them in the past.

This is interesting. I'm surprised they're expanding to 3 days but not moving to a larger venue. I'm pretty sure Union Market is the same size, if not smaller than the venue last year. The crowd seemed pretty sparse last year I guess because it rained the entire time, but I still had a blast. I loved the lineup though.
Pre sale is 170 including fees, and music starts at 4 on Friday and 12 on Saturday and Sunday. Feel like the old Boston Calling set up.
If they book a dope lineup I'm in on this. I would be fine with them booking all solid acts and the headliners being smaller. This is livenation though. Best we could get would probably look something like

Lorde/ Odesza/ QotSA Young Thug
Odesza is in germany, but ya. Id be very surprised if there were 3 headliners of that level.

I'd be shocked if someone Lorde's size played. Past top names have been Future Islands in 14, Kygo 15, and EotS in 16. Plan on Thugger being a headliner and be pleasantly surprised if they pull in anyone bigger.
That being said, I live about a mile from here and it's a fun neighborhood. You're an easy walk to a couple breweries and distilleries, and that quadrant of the city has plenty of good bars and restaurants. Flash would be a solid after party spot, or maybe someone will throw a warehouse event. Not sure I'd travel for this, but I can have a good time for $140 presale.

Side note, Im very excited about The Anthem, everything I have read makes it seem like its gonna be an amazing venue. Snagged tickets today for the Foo show there in October

The Anthem seems to be exactly what NYC needs too - a 5-6,000 person venue that feels like a club but can hold bigger audience sizez. You're seeing this issue with LCD right now where they are sort of in no mans land and don't have a place that has those best of 2 worlds.

Have to imagine LCD will hit The Anthem at some point after they drop their album. Hopefully Phoenix too if they announce a second leg of their tour

I enjoyed 930 Club getting unreasonably large bands doing 2-3 nights, and I loved seeing rock shows at Echostage. I think we'll be losing some those, but overall it'll be a plus for the city.
Hopefully I'll never have to set foot in DAR again.

Man I cant stand Echostage. To each their own but that venue is my least favorite in the area

The Anthem just added Lorde to its lineup on April 8th.
I was looking at Ticketmaster to try to see if ticket prices are as crazy for her other shows as they are at Anthem and it looks like they have another date lined up for Lorde at Verizon the next night. I guess they're just trying to get some big shows right off the bat.

Yeah. I saw that too. I like that they named the page Lawdy Lawdy, like they thought they could hide it. It did say there was a delivery delay until June 27th so I'm sure she'll announce the VC show after The Anthem one sells out on the 20th.

I'm in a bit of a predicament. The Glass Animals show is on the Sunday of the fest at 9:30 and I'm worried that it'll sell out soon but I want to go to the fest but we don't know the lineup yet. Ugh.
