Looking at this closer they play Norfolk on the friday before labor day weekend and then dont have a show until the Tuesday after labor day in Boston. Looks like we have a Labor Day weekend music event in DC to be announced.
Virgin Fest?
Probably but could be something else. If anyone here has any IMP or other DC sources to ask about this, that would be great

My initial thought was that Firefly was delaying any DC announcement, but the presence of a Philly date really throws that off. I believe they've historically always done quite well in the DC market, so I'd have to imagine something is in the works, whether it's a new festival or some other arrangement.
As for MPP, you all have pieced together what I was told -- that this year they're putting a much bigger emphasis on renting out the venue to other promoters, and that IMP is only booking a handful of shows.
I don't have much deeper info than that, but The Anthem was originally supposed to pick up the slack for MPP during cold weather months, and then cut down their prominence during the spring/summer season -- shifting most bookings over to MPP. I think what they've found, both through response from fans and artists, and being forced into moving some MPP acts to the Anthem during the roof collapse ordeal last year, is that the Anthem has more value than they may have anticipated.
I have a coworker that knows someone pretty high up at Wolf Trap so I asked him if he could reach out and he said he would. Additionally, Jon Hopkins at 930 April 24

fwiw my friend who would know for sure if they're booked at Wolf Trap was the one who sent me the tour dates and expressed surprise at no DC date. it's possible he's just playing it close to the vest, but he hasn't really done that for similar bookings in the past ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love passion pit but I unfortunately doubt the tour makes it to the DC date. really sucks that the only way to make money in this industry right now is to do shows which is exactly what Michael says triggers his most serious mental health issues

Hmmm I guess that’s why the sets start so early recently and only last an hour long. Just happy to see him continuing doing shows.
Another “upside” if you like (cock rock, dad rock, or anything from early the 2000’s rock) is that you won’t have to be forced to go to jiffy or filmore for shows. They’ve had that metal/rock/rap group locked up for years! Now anthem and Merriweather get to eat that up too.
