I'm expecting Arcade Fire, NIN and AM and Lizzo to headline next year.
they did play a ton of lizzo on the speakers. Im fine with missing that though. got my two nights of NIN at BC, two nights of Arcade Fire in November and whenever AM tours i know theyll hit Boston
Yeah I'm planning a trip to Spain and Portugal next year but it's going to be in the fall and not revolving around music.

all i have next year is Coachella rn. My partner and I may do Greece & islands if it works out financially though, also non music related haha
Feel like the lads are much less likely to come down for a weekend In Madrid vs Barcelona which has a ton of cultural draw. With the sheer ambition that primavera seems to have I'd have to guess that they're going to have different lineups per each city, maybe using a stadium sized act to sell the Madrid version? The lack of transport in Madrid is concerning, even espacio madcool was rough and that's right across from Real's training ground.
I had a few friends that did Rock in Rio (in Madrid I know, I know) which was at Ciudad de Rock. They had to take a metro to Arganda del Rey (literally the last stop) and then shuttle on a bus for another 20 minutes after that. They learned a few days after they could have caught a direct shuttle from Santiago Bernabéu but still took 45 minutes to an hour.
It’s truly gonna be a fucking PITA.
Or book you accomodation better. The amount of complaining I've seen of people saying they have to travel to far to get back.. Book closer to the festival? Book near the metro line? Jfc. My friend had his hotel 800m from the fest and walked every night back.
I have a hotel booked for Coachella, but it's unlikely I actually go. Very excited for Portola in SF in September. Haven't been there since I was in college

Oh, they’re seasoned vets. But sadly, you’re not gonna find much in the way of hotels/hostels in Arganda del Rey. It’s literally a burb where people live. I’m assuming there will be some Airbnb action closer to the festival but for the most part, most of the places to stay is Madrid proper.

Looking forward to Massive Attack and Sonic Youth next year.
Does 2023 maybe deserve its own thread? There are a lot of pages in this thread already. Idc who takes the lead on it but for a festival that this many of us talk about and attend, I think it makes sense to have a new thread each year.

Personally, I say yes. Next year is gonna be way different in logistics and might be nice to not have to dig too much.
A lot of the festival logistics weren’t the best, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Barcelona is a beautiful city, and I’ll definitely be back someday.
Top sets: Jessie Ware M.I.A Charli 2manydjs Lorde Griff Phoenix Khruangbin Yeah Yeah Yeahs Remi Wolf
Lowlights: Bits closing before Grimes The talkers at the main stages Getting an awful sunburn on my ass at the nude beach
Just left Fred again.. and heading back to my hotel to get a good nights sleep tomorrow. Was awesome meeting yall! the most fun and intense festival experience ive ever had honestly. After this though i dont think i can do a two weekend fest anymore haha.
For real, this was my number 1 takeaway. 1 weekend festivals are the move, you’re just so likely to get sick (not even Covid persay) or exhausted after the first weekend.

I personally didn’t think a new thread is necessary as historically not many people were going to this from the board and it’s good to have all the past information in one thread (otherwise it gets buried in other threads). But this year is a bit different with more Inforoosters there so maybe a new thread makes sense.
I will post much more detailed thoughts but I think it’s safe to say the musical gauntlet of the last ten days is going to be hard for me to surpass. Feels like I just ran a marathon. Off to Bonnaroo 🤪
Never mind. I replied too late as I’m trying to figure out which kid just spent $300 on Roblox and how the fuck they did it.
i’d like to hear more about this
We figured it out. One of the sneaky bastards figured out my password to Google Play and went on a shopping spree. It would have worked too, except my watch was blowing up on my wrist with multiple email alerts. I contacted Google and got it straight thankfully.
Little gremlin is fucking 7 and I’m already impressed with his ingenuity.

Yeah, VIP is probably worth it, especially considering what you're getting relative to prices for VIP at American festivals. And as far as the opportunity cost of the extra 350 bucks/weekend or whatever, if you're spending 12+ hours a day at the festival, I think it makes sense to pay that premium to your experience at the festival, as opposed to lodging, spending an extra 350 on hotel. The VIP price will still end up being a minor part of the overall sticker price of the trip. I can get more specific about the perks later, but there's some decent stuff that for the most part saves you time, which is huge at a festival like this with so much going on. I imagine it overall does not provide the same level of experience it does to have at US festivals, but it's not a bad deal. And obviously you can still have a killer time with GA.
Even with the changes in main stage VIP it was still worth it. Separate interest to the festival, priority access to auditori and club shows and the vip area by biance stage were all clutch. Also with the festival going so late i'm too old to be out in GA all night. Need a few creature comforts lol.
Made it back to Boston tonight! No COVID testing requirements or anything to get back into the US, though I found it odd that the pilot said over the intercom that we were subject to being pulled aside to show negative results - probably just an outdated announcement? lol
