Been meaning to hit this festival ever since they got Pulp years back so taking the plunge this year. First time in Barcelona too. VIP worth it?
If the headliners are someone you really want to see go with VIP, otherwise I’d skip it. They do have a nice club/pool area to relax at early afternoon as well, but for me at least there aren’t any names big enough to make it worth shelling out the extra money for VIP.
I'd like to be upfront for Suede, Robyn, Stereolab, FKA Twigs, and Jarvis. But not sure how the stages work out this year since the top lines seem pretty evenly balanced.
I went last year and we were able to get a VIP upgrade for the Thursday by making a reservation at Casa Primavera (the pop-up restaurant). Not sure if they'll offer that again this year but if you're on the fence re: VIP and willing to wait it out that might be worth it, and if you're a foodie you get an interesting meal out of it as well.

If I had to guess, Robyn and FKA twigs will be on either of the two main stages, while those other three acts will be on the Primavera Stage that does not have a separate VIP section.
Friday: Tame Impala, Janelle Monae, Robyn, Cybotron, Carly Rae Jepsen, Low, Beak>, Midori Takada, Julia Holter, Lucy Dacus.
Saturday: Solange, James Blake, Rosalia, Kali Uchis, Modeselektor, Tim Hecker & Konoyo Ensemble, CupcakKe, Stereolab, Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices featuring Lisa Gerrard, Shellac, Danny L. Harle, Aisha Devi.
Conflicts on Thursday and Saturday are going to be fucking nuts.
P.S. I'm prematurely planning to sabotage Inforeva 2020 so that you all don't tempt me to spend another obscene amount of money on this festival next year.
I've said this a million times before but it bears repeating. Primavera will spoil every festival you attend after it. It's hands down one of the most unique experiences of your life. Not just with the line-up but everything from the food to the location to the people. It set my bar for how festivals should be run.
Money is money. As long as you're paying your bills and being responsible, fuck it. You'll make more. You won't be seeing people freak the fuck out to Mayhem and turn around to see this vibrant blue of the Mediterranean. Don't think about how much you're spending. Just enjoy this isn't another half-ass US festival.
I guess my one concern is that if I only did one festival next year I feel like I would go absolutely crazy with conflicts at this one (that and also my hours are super weird right now and I may have picked a terrible time to commit to two big festivals right next to each other but whatever!).
also ultimately that is a year and a half away so who knows!!! Life is one big ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Mostly I feel that if I attending a show with you and Fred at the same time is a bucket list item I didn't know I had until now.
Cupcakke tweeted 15 hours ago that she was going to commit suicide. Is this real? Can someone who doesn’t know where she lives get her a wellness check

"After posting a concerning tweet last night, CupcakKe has been accounted for and her safety has been confirmed by the Chicago Police Department, the BBC reports. On January 8, a tweet with the message “im about to commit suicide” appeared on the Chicago rapper’s Twitter account. It was reposted on Instagram, captioned, “thank you for everything y'all have done for me I really appreciate it.” Her friend Elijah Daniel tweeted overnight that Cupcakke had been hospitalized and was “okay.”"

You mean day trips away from the city? Sitges if you are into the LGBT scene, or Girona.
On a sidenote, I remain super excited for this festival, but keep reading more and more horror stories about the vast majority of the crowd being insufferable (i.e., not giving a fuck about the music). You certainly can't expect everybody to behave as you would want them to at a massive festival like this, but if that's the norm, then that would suck hard...

I had no crowd issues but I also happened to stay away from the two main stages for a lot of the festival. If anything the crowd is just really laid back and not super rowdy from my experience.
Also it’s not a full day trip but it’s worth it to take a couple hours and hike up to the bunkers above Barcelona for sunset. Bring some wine and food and have a picnic with a really cool view of the city.

That's reassuring, though I have a few must-sees on Friday and Saturday that are guaranteed to be on the main stages. Hopefully the schedule will allow for dead time in between acts to claim good spots in front of stages.
