Didn’t expect to make it this far. Last season I had the #1 seed and crumbled down the stretch. It’s easier being an #8 seed with zero expectations (until you hit the finals and start overthinking everything).
I thought LD had me last week. I lost my first two games by an average of 1 point this season, both due to kickers on Monday Night Football. I thought history was repeating itself in the semis. Up against Matt Bryant with 9 points to spare, I figured it’d be a poetic way to lose, a third time. Somehow snuck out of that to advance.
Good luck, Vinnie the Eel . You got the low-seed finals you wanted!
Good luck to you too, Jesioneka --- the loss of Zuerlein is a killer!
Ouch, I see that. Phil Dawson might be 70, but at least he has the leg of a 20-year-old!
I’ve been streaming this season between some decent options and it hasn’t made too much of a difference. I know Zuerlein was in a class by himself though.
As an aside, I cannot believe how good the Rams became—Goff, Gurley, the defense, etc.—basically overnight. That Seattle game was nuts. It can’t all be the coaching change. Did they hate St. Louis that much?!

this season has essentially proved that all the talking heads on the big networks (Matthew Berry) know nothing about football or what makes a player good. All they do is look at stats and determine who's good by that. Just about the worst way to determine players' values, especially as a running back. Todd Gurley is the biggest case.
As for the Rams, I think it's coaching and experience (especially with Goff) and melding an offence to fit your players and not the other way around.

Honestly, I've gotten to the point that I only listen to Louis Riddick for any football advice (trying to translate his info over to fantasy). The guy knows 10000x more than most talking heads and hits on breakout players seemingly every year. He called Goff and the Ram's turn around back in the summer.

i'll have to check him out, i did a minimal amount of research going into this season, i pretty much hate matthew berry, and I've pretty much stopped watching/listening to sports talk shows and such.

this is key - and so few NFL coaches adapt their schemes to fit the strengths of the players they have. Good player to high powered offense doesn't always equal fantasy success, see DeMarco Murray to Chip Kelly's Eagles.
Have the 7 and 8 seeds ever met in the Championship in this league before? I'm not sure i've ever seen that before. It's pretty fuckin awesome and goes to show this game is really as random as it gets.
Ugh. Probably the ugliest final ever played in the Thunderdome. The final score was the equivalent of 2-0, I think, a safety in overtime.
Hats off to Vinnie the Eel for winning against my team of no-shows, who really made me pay for any and all mismanagement in the final. Bummed at their performance and, much much worse, my own.
grats Vinnie the Eel. a little salty I scored the highest pts the following 2 weeks after being put out but atleast I won my other league's championship against a guy who had gurley.
