Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'll refrain from calling Bonnaroo trash until after the schedule comes out.
Tough part with Roo is that it looks like most of the cool acts they got are gonna be at Lolla too and Lolla's reported headliners are significantly better
House and techno are only dominating undercards because electronic is trending so high right now. It's not like they are doing so just to fill a stage. Plenty of people want it.
edit: honestly feel like this lineup is pretty damn diverse in all aspects

Like many LN festivals are indeed doing.
Exactly. The talent in this case is pretty well respected/reviewed. It's not just throwing random womp acts on the "EDM" stage and calling it a day.
And house and techno is nice but it shouldn't dominate the undercard over 3 days at a multi genre festival.
Why not? It’s not for everyone but it’s fine by me. It at least makes this fest a little unique.
THIS.
My biggest gripe with Boston Calling's booking is its tip-toeing around electronic music.
Last year they booked Major Lazer and no other EDM. This year it's just Mount Kimbie, which is great but I would have loved to see some of Pano's house/techno/electronic ouevre on the lineup

I'm going Saturday, hoping to see: Janet Jackson, St. Vincent, SZA, Cardi B and Japanese Breakfast. That's a hell of a fun way to spend $85.
(Also I just realized my day is all women, and almost entirely women of color. Pretty impressive that they booked more diversity in one day that most entire 3 day fests).

It's undeniable that certain acts on this are kind of bummers, such as Dua Lipa, Migos, and Cardi B (and the Killers, but maybe that's just me) but you can't see every act on a lineup, anyway. Like I said before, there's gonna be something pretty great from open to close, because overall the batting average of this lineup is better than pretty much everything else this year, particularly if you like electronic music.
And if you don't like electronic music, you should feel bad.
Honestly, I think Janet and especially Cardi would've been better off doing Afropunk. The Pano crowd Friday and Sunday last year, in my opinion, was kinda wack

But it's Lolla...
Also, 1/3rd of this lineup is techno/electronic, however outside of Odesza the majority of these acts, while good, don't really have much name recognition outside of the techno genre. If you're a huge techno fan, why would you drop $300 to go to this when none of the headliners interest you, and you can catch most of these acts at Output for $15.
Janet is an awesome booking, she was great on her solo tour last year, but at 32, I think I was easily the youngest person at the show. I don't think anyone under 30 was even in jr high the last time Janet charted a song. Odds are her set will be a re-hash of her just wrapped tour so there's really no motivation to go see the same set if you're a casual fan.

I thought everything about Panorama the last two years was amazing and really felt the joy and awe I felt at like Lolla '08 and Roo '12-'13 when I fell in love with those fests, but the only real complaint I had was the crowds. I thought the Solange/Frank crowd was great on Friday and Frank from up front was probably my favorite show ever, but I will say the Vince Staples (as opposed to Lolla and Roo the year before) and ATCQ crowds were pretty dead. Similarly, the SZA crowd was pretty weak and talked over her set the year before. I think the lineups have been a breath of fresh air for east coast music festivals, and the art, food, air conditioned bathrooms, etc. all made it well worth the price with those two lineups. The crowd was wack/uninterested for more than a few shows though both years.

Also, that David Byrne show is worth catching as many times as possible from as close as possible, especially if you're a Talking Heads fan. Just my subjective two cents.

I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to 2016 attendees - given the extreme heat, remaining upright throughout the day was an accomplishment, let alone cutting loose for multiple sets. That said, I only went on Sunday, and crowds seemed alright...particularly at LCD Soundsystem, which had, from where I was positioned, a great energy.
Last year, it just varied so much. I felt like the crowds at sets like Tame Imapala, Frank Ocean, Mitski, Angel Olsen, and Belle and Sebastian were pretty into it. Others, not so much (agreed about ATCQ, although I was dancing my fool head off. ).

Is it alright to like electronic music, but not a majority of the *particular* electronic artists booked for this festival?
