Theyll just focus on making BK Steel and Forest Hills bigger deals. Which is smart, those are nice venues. With enough work Forest Hills could be New York's Red Rocks.

I've yet to visit Forest Hills, but AEG gotta spread some grease to get that 10pm curfew extended if they want to be the next Red Rocks.

Pretty clear by now that AEG has absolutely no pull when it comes to Queens.

That venue is smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Won't happen

Forest Hills could be the next Red Rocks except for the slight issue that there is nothing even close to as unique there as the actual Red Rocks

With essentially no buzz, Cardi B cancelling, and the news that they're cutting the size of the fest, is it a definite that this is going to still happen this year?

I generally blike Forrest hills (it has it's issues like any venue) but I would not compare it to Red Rocks. It definitely does seem like they're pushing for bigger shows/artists now.

Feel like cancelling would be a terrible look for GV/AEG's brand. Even if Pano wasn't successful, they'll try again, and don't want a cancellation in their history. APW, Pano, maybe third times the charm.o
If it's really only 30,000 and half of Randall's Island they'll probably just have it, hope for 2/3 capacity then dump the rest of the tix, and the shutter it afterwards.
Saw an enormous billboard for this off the Halsey L stop. Never seen any of the fests go that hard.
Farewell Panorama, I wish I'd been able to attend you just once
Haha I don't know about that. Both fests go hard on the outdoor advertising. Have have you seen the Bedford L stop recently? There is so much Gov Ball promotion material it can basically be considered wallpaper.

I get a chuckle at that hall of Gov Ball.
This Pano billboard is fucking massive though. Just a huge festival lineup looming over the neighborhood
Put me in the minority's it seems but outside of the first year (which was the best NYC lineup I've ever seen) think Govballs booking has been better than Panos
Since the cancellation of FYF fest, I feel that Pano' might on the verge of the same fate (poor sales) & GV just cancelled FYF like it was nothing and didn't damaged their "brand".
I sure hope they dont cancel this thing. I have to imagine that Friday and Sunday are selling well enough with The Weeknd and Migos, then the Rock slate on sunday

Weeknd and Migos are carrying this. They are also doing a good job not really letting ppl know that Cardi B is out (still havent changed the poster, and the only thing on social media letting anyone know; is a link to a video thats just labelled "a message from Cardi B"). Gonna make for a lot of pissed off ppl later. If it is the last year, might as well make what ya can even if it burns ppl. But,

Some friends and I are going just for Sunday and we just booked an airbnb in Astoria for Saturday and Sunday night. Anybody have any tips on things to do Saturday night in that area? I'm sure we'll just grab some drinks somewhere around our place, but any other info helps.

Astorian, here. In what part of the neighborhood is your AirBnB? And, are you looking to stay close by in terms of your options, or willing to roam a bit?

Were on 27th street, between 23rd and 24th. Prob would be open to roaming around though.

Ah, cool. OK, so, the Bohemian Beer Garden was a good recommendation. You're also pretty close to Mosaic, which is good if you're looking for a more chill vibe. The Sparrow is right around there, too, and that's been a good late-night spot for me and my friends after Randall's Island festivals. The Letlove Inn and the Bonnie are another good couple of pubs around there.
In terms of roaming, I'm kind of partial to Flattopps on Ditmars - it's got a bit of a retro vibe (they have an X-Men arcade machine and, last time I was there, a NES set up with Super Mario Bros. 3) and a kind of dance-y vibe on weekend nights. I'll also put in a good word for Diamond Dogs on 31st Avenue, and not just because it's my local.
