Amazing. Another David Byrne solo show. This is crazy.
Not sure if anyone else in this thread has seen his show yet, but I have and I'd try and go as many times as physically and financially possible. Its the best show I've seen in 2018 and probably longer. Just amazing. I think especially with how much hes been willing to play, any fest missing him this tour was a massive Loss for that fest.

I was initially turned off by the high ticket prices, but it was worth every penny. It really is a spectacular show and for festival prices you're getting a deal.

Couldnt agree more. For me it was an 80 buck ticket and I was in an upper deck (which actually provided pretty good perspective to appreciate the show). Festival set wouldnt be full but youre getting at least 50 bucks in value from the Byrne set at Pano regardless of how many other shows he plays. Throw in The XX, and The Killers, and its a big net gain for me personally

I was holding off buying a ticket to his full show in September given that a) I'd be seeing him at Pano, and b) that was also potentially the weekend of The Meadows, but now that that's likely not happening...I wonder what I could get secondhand.

If you have enough clout as an artist I don't really see what's wrong with caring about something like lineup placement. It affects perception and perception affects your career. Seems to have worked pretty well for The Weeknd since he's #1 on the Lolla poster this year.

Which is absolutely absurd.....Bruno Mars is the biggest artist in the world right now, he should totally be number one. Also, I can't believe Lolla would book him again after the shit he pulled last year.
What if the artist happened to be The Weeknd or Eminem? Wouldn't it make sense they'd get much more than Haim? I doubt ODESZA got paid 10x more than them.

I disagree sir. That would be true anywhere, except for Chicago.
Eh, The Weeknd eclipses his popularity everywhere. Chance hasn't had a top Billboard hit IIRC, The Weeknd has had several plus several arena tours.
That's why I find this whole thing confusing. It'd be one thing to fire an agent if said agent was undervaluing them but another if they felt they deserved the same fee as an act that draws a bigger crowd. I always figured agent's negotiated the best deals possible and some are just better than others but could be wrong.
The weird thing about this is that in an era where festivals are scrapping to stay profitable, if female acts are making a lot less you'd think you'd see a lot more on the posters.

To be fair, Chance had no business being billed over The Weeknd.

Who cares?
Kanye was fourth at Lolla 08. Behind Nine Inch Nails. Do you know where he's from? Do you know that he had just released an album, the third album of his, and also the third that was more popular and more influential than anything Chance has put out? Don't act like it was totally normal that Chance was 4th at Roo, which is also a festival he has high standing at, below the Weeknd and then two months later was number one at Lollapalooza.
The Weeknd is entitled to manage his own career however he sees fit. And yes, they rebooked him at #1 over Bruno Mars, because he had the leverage to do so. Because he is himself massive.
I don't think we have any right to constantly debate mock lineups and booking order and then get mad at the Weeknd for caring what his is. Nothing wrong happened here. At all.

Damn man, didn't realize you were such a Weeknd-stan haha. Weeknd is huge, no doubt. But that's Chance's city. Kanye probably should have been #1 at that Lolla in 08 too. I think they were behind the curve then. You have to remember the context. As crazy as it seems now, rappers never got top billing at multi genre festivals in the aughts. It was a huge deal and controversy when Glasto finally broke that glass ceiling by putting Jay Z at the top of their bill.
By the way, I am not denying that The Weeknd is huge, and I def think he is bigger than Chance anywhere except for Chicago... But we are posting in a thread for a festival with a 30k person capacity that probably will not sell out with The Weeknd headlining; and just last year Chance was on top of a 50k person festival in the exact same location that did sell out. Food for thought there.
Also, not getting mad at all and I agree who really cares. This is all just bullshitting in good faith sir.
