Kanye was fourth at Lolla 08. Behind Nine Inch Nails. Do you know where he's from? Do you know that he had just released an album, the third album of his, and also the third that was more popular and more influential than anything Chance has put out? Don't act like it was totally normal that Chance was 4th at Roo, which is also a festival he has high standing at, below the Weeknd and then two months later was number one at Lollapalooza.
The Weeknd is entitled to manage his own career however he sees fit. And yes, they rebooked him at #1 over Bruno Mars, because he had the leverage to do so. Because he is himself massive.
I don't think we have any right to constantly debate mock lineups and booking order and then get mad at the Weeknd for caring what his is. Nothing wrong happened here. At all.
Damn man, didn't realize you were such a Weeknd-stan haha. Weeknd is huge, no doubt. But that's Chance's city. Kanye probably should have been #1 at that Lolla in 08 too. I think they were behind the curve then. You have to remember the context. As crazy as it seems now, rappers never got top billing at multi genre festivals in the aughts. It was a huge deal and controversy when Glasto finally broke that glass ceiling by putting Jay Z at the top of their bill.
By the way, I am not denying that The Weeknd is huge, and I def think he is bigger than Chance anywhere except for Chicago... But we are posting in a thread for a festival with a 30k person capacity that probably will not sell out with The Weeknd headlining; and just last year Chance was on top of a 50k person festival in the exact same location that did sell out. Food for thought there.
Also, not getting mad at all and I agree who really cares. This is all just bullshitting in good faith sir.
I was more frustrated with what was said about the Weeknd pulling some shit by deciding not to play Lolla than what you said.
I'm not a huge Weeknd guy I've just ended up defending his billing more times than I really cared to.
Any guesses on when we will get a full schedule? Very curious how they decide who to put on the Pavilion vs Panorama stage especially further down the lineup

Probably not until 2 weeks before the fest, unfortunately.
Really hoping this means that Floating Points and Moodymann will be during Janet and the Killers sets. If so, Sunday could be perfect for me from start to finish if the scheduling breaks down ideally.
I really dont understand how Sunday hasnt sold out yet. Is Goldenvoice's promotional team really that incompetent?
Number of reasons:
1) The Killers played 2 area arena shows in January while also doing 2 promo shows in the fall at BK Steel and Terminal 5. Their new album has not caught on in any way in terms of hits or cultural relevance so imagine most people who wanted to see them already fulfilled the need this past fall/winter.
2) The XX did 2 nights at Forest Hills last year.
3) David Byrne has multiple area shows.
4) Fleet Foxes played two nights at Prospect Park last summer and, similar to The Killers, put out a so-so record that didn't make much noise
I think Sunday's lineup is awesome so I'm definitely going but I can understand how it might be hard to move 30k tickets for.

Yeah but on top of that a bunch of the lower acts on that day have blown up. Rex Orange County has sold out every stand alone show on his tour. Great has had massive festival crowds. Throw in the electronic acts and I really don’t understand how they can’t get to 30k

Dead of July and, similar to why we've been seeing poor sales for Forest Hills shows, I think there are just TOO many tours/shows this summer, not enough demand to go around.

Those electronic acts aren't really popular except with people here. Most of them play in Brooklyn multiple times a year for $15-20. If you are a fan of those acts and are local, spending over a hundred or more on a festival to see them doesn't make much sense.
I think Friday of this is probably going to do really well just based off The Weeknd and Migos. It may even sell out now that they cut 10k people off the attendance. But I'm thinking Sat and Sun are going to be ghost towns.
