A "weird" headliner in 2018 is either a boomer/legacy act that doesn't appeal to the 18-25 crowd or a pop act that doesn't usually play festivals. Anything in between is usually fair game.
would Bjork fall under the weird headliner category? I think so but would welcome it
I don't think she's someone Launchpad would be surprise to see at the top. I figure it's someone that hadn't been predicted before he made that statement

Jack Johnson hasn't played New York City since last June. His tour ends on July 25th. He had a new album out last year. He's headlining Mad Cool Festival. Also used to have a good relationship with Goldenvoice (he's headlined Coachella before and played two times before that). Would also be an odd choice.
Why? Theo Parrish, Motor City Drum Ensemble and Derrick Carter are all great DJs and are opposing acts in this case.
I can see why he is saying that. The point isnt really a stage. There is no production or anything. Most people just stop off there in between acts or when nothing is going on.
Same with The Woods at FYF and I spent 80% of my time there. House and techno are mostly low production shows cause they're so rooted in the underground. Only really massive productions in Europe.

Johnson is playing Mad Cool the same day as Depeche Mode, QOTSA, NIN. Safe to say he's not headlining there.

Jack Johnson is small AF in Europe compared to the USA.
Luckily it is 2018 instead of 2008, so it's unlikely he'll headline Panorama.
