The concrete wasn't that bad, but Pano is definitely much easier to navigate.
For sure, concrete isn't the work thing ever but it does tend to mess with my knees.
Thinking about going to FYF or Pano next year?
Yeah at a certain point my legs were so beaten some dance moves just wouldn't work. A weekend at Bonnaroo was much tougher on the body imo. If we go back next year it would be fyf just out of convenience. There's a chance we go back to Melt next summer though.
If this festival exists next year I wouldnt be surprised if they get Beyonce there. They need to do something to get the attendance up, and she already has the relationship with Goldenvoice

Wasn't she supposedly booked for firefly? It would make sense she would play there instead.

If they book Beyonce, they'd better expand that field by at least another third in size. If you thought Frank Ocean's crowd was a shitshow...
I have it on good authority that one night will be co-headlined by Marilyn Manson and Hole to celebrate the 20th anniversaries of Mechanical Animals and Celebrity Skin (both playing those albums in full!)

I need to see these dance moves you were unable to bust out due to concrete. There must be video somewhere

this is a joke right?
100% serious! They are also in talks with Korn to perform Follow The Leader in full.

If Lana Del Rey playing AEG-owned Terminal 5 means anything, y'all could be in for some fights with psychotic stans next year. I'm still scarred from her Gov Ball 15 set

I think it probably means that the days of Lana true-headlining are over. I could see her in the Solange or Alt-J spot though.
Haha, I still remember Lana's massive crowd at GovBall and how over 50% of people left after four songs due to the terrible sound.
I take it that people will be camping overnight in order to get front row for Terminal 5?
Nice part about Lana is that you don't need to be close for the set. Hang back, take it in if it's your thing. I almost got ran over trying to leave before her set at ACL14

The Gov Ball set was especially fucked up because of sound issues; which have since been given a huge upgrade. She played the stage that Gambino was on this year if you were there.

Ah yes gotcha. That would be a fine place now - big field, try to kick back by that bar on the right side (facing away from the stage)

Yeah I was really bummed about the sound issues back then, trying to listen to her. MMJ were fine at that stage though.
And damn, looking at GovBall's '15 lineup, there are a lot of great stuff there.

Gov Ball 13-15 all had insane awesome lineups. Having more NYC fests have split the talent pool and watered it down a bit. Lineups are still good. But not as great as they once were.
Could you imagine if Gov Ball this year had pulled Jay, Gorillaz, NIN/Tool, Frank, and Gambino all on one lineup? Probably would have happened.

Oh man, that would be an awesome lineup. And there would probably much less trash acts. I wish Gov Ball had a chance to stay independent.

I'm glad to hear someone else say this, because I thought the difference in my appreciation of the lineups was just me getting old/out of touch.

Little bit of that too. Primavera moving weekends also hurt a bit. But I still don't think the lineups have taken a completely drastic hit. I sincerely think Gov Ball this year was totally solid and one of the better lineups of the year.

Honestly, I thought both local summer fest lineups this year were really solid - GovBall was better top-to-bottom, I think, but Pano's eclecticism and ridiculous headliners (at least, for my tastes - not that anything tops the experience of finally seeing Tool) were great, too.
I still dream of the mega-festival we'd get in a GovPanDows, or whatever, but I have no complaints about the way this year turned out.
