One great album. Not groundbreaking but scratches the itch for their genre really well
Assuming you've listened to enough Migos to say they only have 1 good album, isn't it groundbreaking that half the rap music being made now sounds like Migos did 5 years ago?
To be fair, a lot of popular rock of the last 10-15 years definitely pulls from The Killers.
But also to be fair, The Killers definitely pulled from obvious influences to establish their sound more than Migos did

Hey everyone, Scott here. Hope you’re enjoying the lineup. Apparently I got pranked again because David S. Pumpkins isn’t on the lineup like I was told by some family members. Hope you appreciate the work we put in for the electronic acts here though!
I can agree you on that. Actually most of those acts are somewhat nice and something you might like if you give it a chance.
GovBall has some great undercard for sure, but when I look up the last lines, they are mostly comprised of no-name bands which will most likely be forgotten soon. I think that's one of the main differences of the booking approaches of two companies, specifically for these two fests.
I'm willing to buy that. I'm fairly open minded when it comes to new music, but I'll admit that the EDM thing has never really done it for me, for the most part. BUT, I'd love to be proven wrong. So, here's my story: I'm mostly a rock and indie guy wth a soft spot for synthpop and dancey, electronic-infused music (a la M83, LCD Soundsystem, VHS Collection, etc.), and I'm also into some hip-hop, although my tastes there tend to skew toward the conscious stuff and older-school material.
Given that...who on this undercard should I dive into? I'm particularly looking for Friday recommendations, since there's not a name past Charlotte Gainsbourg that interests me at first blush...but anything from that list anyone thinks might work for the likes of me, I'm up for exploring.
Thanks, d00dz!
Luckily, most of the electronic undercard cannot be classified under that "EDM thing" and make some quality electronic music.
Based on your description, I'll try to list some electronic acts (from those I've heard of), in the order of you might like the most to less:
Friday: Yaeji - Soulection - The Black Madonna - Mike Servito Saturday: DJ Python - Bicep - Avalon Emerson Sunday: Mount Kimbie - Laurel Halo - Shanti Celeste - Helena Hauff - Jlin

I'm not sure if it will, or not, but I genuinely appreciate the effort and will dig into your recommendations. Thanks again!

Growing up I was a straight rock guy. As I opened myself up to more hip-hop and electronic, I found some of those same familiar beats and rhythms I had grown accustomed to growing up playing rock music. I don't really have the time or ability to pursue a project with other musicians at this point, so electronic has given me a creative outlet. All ya really need is a DAW and an ear for it.
At this point in time, I would argue that electronic has been the most groundbreaking genre of the century thus far. There is some extremely solid stuff out there once you get into it. Since you're already into music with electronic elements, I think some of it would hit the spot for sure. It's not all bro-edm at this point. Plenty of this stuff is well thought out and elevated. Floating Points, Bicep, and Black Madonna are some very strong electronic acts on this lineup imo (and they're all way different). Check them out if you haven't.

mount kimbie is a full band jorgeandthekraken that's probably more up your alley. idk that the rest of them will be, bicep, yaeji, soul, madonna, halo, jlin, most likely wont
*floating points could, idk depends on how they schedule him/how the stages work here, but Floating Points Pitchfork Paris set is a great set and all live

I dig it. Big must sees for me are David Byrne, Dua Lipa, and Yaeji.
Also very excited for The Weeknd, Migos, Charlotte Gainsbourg, SZA, Cardi B, St Vincent, Japanese Breakfast, Jay Som, The xx, Greta Van Fleet, Mount Kimbie, Chicano Batman, and Jlin on first view. Wow that's a lot.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

I'll say the same thing about The Killers that I said 2 weeks ago when Firefly came out.
As a headliner by themselves they are uninspired, but if you put them on a day with another interesting, headliner caliber rock act (FF/ArcticMonkeys, Pano/thexx) then they are just a fun add.

I believe he's touring the solo live set now, which is just him playing his own tracks as far as I know.

That's still gonna be good shit, and more "band" sounding

Listen to Elaenia by Floating Points. Incredible album.
Considering only The Point acts conflicted with headliners last year, I could see Kyle Hall, Bicep, Avalon Emerson or DJ Python conflicting with Janet.

Tons of great "parlor" names, but just like Coachella and Yuma, not worth traveling all the way to NYC and paying all that money to be in the "parlor" all day every day.
Come on FYF, give me at least ONE festival I want to go to this year in the US.
