Thugger commentary aside, I think this lineup is refreshing on an objective level. Love the female heavy top lines and I can appreciate the electronic undercard. Though for the price they charge for face value tickets there should really be more acts each day.
On a personal level, since I'm going to Coachella there's too much crossover to warrant travelling for this a second time unfortunately, so I'm pretty bummed about that. Still waiting for another festival to catch my eye this year, but nothing seems to have a wow factor for me yet. Maybe I can find a way to make it out to Primavera or Mad Cool, but I'm not sure if I can swing it financially.
Holding out hope for FYF, Pitchfork, or maybe Osheaga at this point.
I wish Young Thug was booked for festivals at the same frequency as Migos.
But Thugga is even worse live than Migos.
Would you rather have Migos who autotune over their own backtrack even when the song doesn't have autotune, or Young Thug who just raps over his own vocals? They're both terrible. I don't even know how you could compare which is worse.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

I saw both in 2017 and their sets went as follows:
Migos: Ten minutes past the scheduled start time, their DJ shows up and plays trap bangers for 10 minutes. Migos shows up, phones it in, while the DJ yells out how awesome it was that we were in Amsterdam (hint: we were not). The crowd is stonefaced and doesn't do shit until the fourth song that went something like "you niggas in trouble", when we were all instructed to do a bigass moshpit that got the whole crowd jumping. This finally created some energy in the set. Not that Migos' "performance" got any better, but by the end of the show I had fun moshing to a bunch of the Culture bangers plus a bunch of OG tracks such as Hannah Montana.
Young Thug: Appears OVER ONE HOUR LATE at a scheduled festival headlining set, plays his best tracks within the first 15 minutes, and proceeds to clearly not give a fuck anymore for the remaining boring 30 minutes.

You decide what's better/worse.
Well at least it's not as bad as Smokepurpp https://www.reddit.com/r/hiphopheads/comments/7mne7z/psa_dont_go_see_smokepurpp/
"Damn. I can't believe I'm writing this. I also don't know why I'm so surprised. But... Here we go. I've seen a lot of hip hop shows, a lot of underground acts and this was the first show I was going to see a "mumble rapper". After seeing all his show footage it seemed like it'd be madness and I been following Lil Purp for over a year now. So we went to Starland Ballroom in NJ last night to go see him. Not only did I sit through 3 and a half hours of the worst openers I've ever seen, but the DJs were playing obnoxiously long sets with Lil Pump, XXX, and Ski Mask on repeat... but they were the same 3 songs. That's Okay, I thought, it's basically time for Smokepurpp. Not only did they keep saying one more song. Then three more songs and he'll come out.... He came out late as hell and he was leaning and geeked so hard. Here's his set list (did not play any of these all the way thru): Audi, Geek A Lot, Bless Yo Trap, Drop, Fingers Blue, Audi (again) What the fuck. I sat through 3.5 hours for a fucking 15 min set... where he played Audi twice. Not to mention 2 other songs he played in his set were Uzi and Waka songs. After taking so long he said "theres no rules for lil purpp"... I feel like I was finessed by an artist I actually really fuck with. I'm pretty tight. Tl/dr; Smokepurpp doesn't give a fuck about his fans dont go see him. Go see an artist that'll put on an actual show."

So....in theory I should be able to get a wristband on Sunday morning for about $40 bucks.
The demographic/taste of this festival shifts drastically on Sunday from Fri/Sat. Compound that with a lot of people totally gassed after 2 days in unbearable NYC July heat/humidity. Lots of sweaty weekend wristbands being unloaded.
*this is assuming I don't win a weekend pass from one of the 2,000 contests or someone doesn't hand me a free one at Yankees Stadium.

Man, Pano's web team needs to get its shit together. First, they misspell ODESZA, then they add the playlist for Bearcat (a band) to the artist page for Bearcat (the DJ). Strong work.
How hot does NYC really get in July? I live in Florida, which is literally hell on Earth from June to August.
Pretty hot and humid. But, it's been weird with this festival, so far - the first year was absolutely awful due to the "heat dome." Then, last year was unseasonably cool.
On average, I'd say we're talking high 80s to low-mid 90s with some serious humidity. If you're from Florida, it probably won't feel that bad...but I wouldn't say it'll feel good, either.

It was apparently awful in its first year, like high 90s every day.
But last year when I went was totally fine. It was in the high 70s I think? I didn't sweat much except maybe the middle of the afternoon on Friday. It was incomprehensibly cool for the summer to us Florida boys.

Believe me when I say that it was an aberration in terms of late July weather around these parts.
Yeah I agree that song is kinda shitty, it's a good thing I was talking about The Beginning is the End is the Beginning not The End is the Beginning is the End. And just because the movie is a turd doesn't make the song a turd.
Oh duh. The Batman Forever soundtrack is the shit though.
Yeah, that Smashing Pumpkins song was on the Batman & Robin soundtrack. Batman Forever >>>>> Batman & Robin, in both soundtrack and film.
