anyone have any recommendations for someone who is mainly an indie guy?
how far down the lineup are you needing recommendations? I'm guessing you already know Father John Misty, The War on Drugs, and Fleet Foxes. In the case that you don't then you should get familiarized with them.
Japanese Breakfast is great Mount Kimbie is an electronic group, but they play live and their recent album actually sounded like a full band.
I consider myself more of an indie guy, but will find myself at electronic acts like The Black Madonna, who is considered one of the best live DJs right now. Also check out Floating Points and Bicep.

I just noticed that you can purchase 2-day tickets as well this year. Wonder if you get to choose which 2 of the 3 days. I could see a lot of people then picking the Friday and Sunday.

You are very nice to try and help so I apologize. My post was a very vague reference to a popular copy pasta around here.
not sure if this is the good place to ask this question but I'm from Europe and I want to fly to US for some festival this year. I was at Panorama 2016 and I loved it. I'd love to see many rap acts but electronic/indie is fine too tbh. coachella seems great but it's in April and it'd be great to do something in June-Sep

Thanks for doing this. Just goes to show conflicts will be brutal. The xx and David Byrne are both enormous draws, I really can't see either being in the Pavillion but who knows I guess they'll have to make it work.
If anything, it just goes to show how idiotic unopposed headliners are. Better to put Odesza in the Pavillion against the Killers instead of cramming them into the Parlor.
Am I insane or was pricing like $300-330 for a 3-day pass last year? FYF was $329 for GA last year and I'm excited by that maybe going down to $250 too
The xx is a huge draw, I can't see them anywhere but a main stage.
I honestly don’t think they’ll be there because the xx are basically a co headliner at every festival, but then again Alt-J was there last year when the last time I saw them was a nighttime main stage set at Coachella.
The stage isn’t small, but it’s also not thaaaat big.

My prediction is you put Chicano batman on the Pavilion, move up Fleet Foxes and Byrne, move The XX to the main stage before the Killers, then move Odesza to the Pavillion where The XX was. Theres pretty much 0 chance Odesza would be put into The Parlor.

I think the lower price for the festivals ($76 for a day pass before fees) just goes to show that they probably spent a considerable amount less on this lineup.
These aren't break the bank headliners. And after the 2nd line on each day, these are acts that play for about $15 in New York.

Alright, so, I've been digging into some of the electronic artists from the lineup you guys recommended. I have to admit, as much as I've tried, it's been more misses than hits - again, this is just speaking for my personal taste, as I know this is all subjective.
Thoughts so far...
FRIDAY: Still looking a little bleak. Yaeji has some stuff that works for me, but her I'm-barely-trying vocal work grates, a little. This isn't something exclusive to electronic music - I feel the same way when Stephen Malkmus does it. That said, I'm intrigued enough that this set might be worth a visit. I liked what I've heard so far of The Black Madonna, but looking at some live footage of her, it doesn't really seem like my thing.
SATURDAY: Bicep doesn't really do it for me - I actually kind of enjoy their music, but, again, looking at live videos, I'm not seeing a performative aspect that really gets me excited to see them in a live setting. Floating Points, on the other hand, seems really cool, although I'm confused a bit by discussion here - is he not playing with a band, at this stage?
SUNDAY: I am totally on board for Mount Kimbie, and they're probably my favorite of what was suggested.
So, I'm left still hoping that they add an artist (maybe even a band?) or two on Friday, otherwise that could be a very truncated day, for me. The other two days are better, for sure, and Sunday just got that much more interesting now that I'm into Mount Kimbie.
Again, thanks much for the recommendations, y'all.
I'll admit Manhattan gets crazy, but Brooklyn is awesome. Hell, lower Manhattan and other, less busy parts of Manhattan are sweet as well. Also heard great things about boroughs in Queens.
