I am with jorgethekraken on this. Siamese Dream is a great album. Mellon Collie only had a handful of good songs. And everything after that was just straight up bad. But in any event, we are all pretty much in agreement that 1998 was the last time they even released anything remotely relevant. Its 2018. 20 years since people cared. No wonder this tour is drawing flies.
Maybe Marilyn Manson and Hole were join forces this year to finish their aborted arena tour from 1998?

Well apparently I'm one of the few suckers that still thought The Smashing Pumpkins had major clout and could move tickets. I paid almost $160 for a floor ticket at Wells Fargo, and was getting hyped looking at the proposed setlists and all, and then I read these comments, which are on more than a few threads on this board, and I'm getting pretty bummed out.
Don't worry, same happened to a friend who bought a floor ticket in the first 10 rows for $190...now he is thinking of re-selling it for $350 (don't know what are his chances of selling it but it is a pretty good seat) besides the ticket price, Radiohead stopped me from buying SP tickets...idk if this is the case for the rest...They only did well in sales at Chicago (their Hometown) and LA.

You could have said the same for Soundgarden, or say the same for Alice in Chains, Bush, Third Eye Blind, Stone Temple Pilots, or even really Nine Inch Nails (in terms of relevance). The thing is, this is a greatest hits tour with the original lineup, it's been almost 20 years since a tour like this has happened, and The Smashing Pumpkins are easily one of the biggest and best alternative bands of the 90's.. it should be selling better than this, but I guess their music hasn't aged as well as I had imagined. There's really no other big 90's nostalgia/legacy acts touring with their original lineup, that I can think of, besides The Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam, who also haven't been relevant in 20 years, yet manage to sellout baseball stadiums with ease. I really don't understand the current music market at all.

I still think it's way too early to make any comments about this tour being a success/failure. Two of the biggest tours this summer, Kendrick/SZA/Schoolboy and Weezer/Pixies, are doing just as poorly. the stops in my area (Jones Beach) for both those tours are still 75% empty.
I've got my tickets for SP already, and I plan on buying my Kendrick & Weezer tickets soon. And I expect all 3 shows to be packed.

How is the Weezer/Pixies nostalgia package-tour one of the biggest of the summer?
Also, NIN had a couple of big radio hits during the 2000's unlike some of those other mentioned bands. Though it's certainly questionable if they can fill arenas again just like in 2013.

The market this year is crazy...Post Malone has the best selling, tour of the summer, while Kendrick is having issues moving tickets.

In 2016, that Weezer/Panic at The Disco tour sold really well. Pixies/Weezer don't have as much crossover audience and both have been touring to death over the past decade or so.

I find it hard to believe a tour with Kendrick and SZA is having a hard time moving tickets. I need to see more before I believe that.

Usually the summer tours at Amphitheatres don’t start selling until it gets warmer. Additionally, Kendrick just had a massive tour last year in arenas and sold out all of them pretty much
I like how this thread has turned into just a general NYC show discussion since this lineup is so boring. Anyone else going to Rhye on Fri at Brooklyn Steel?
Haven't stop by the Gov Ball thread lately, but has that lineup sparked riveting discussion? Most threads seem boring as of late.
There aren't a lot of lineups worth discussing for months leading up to the actual festival. It's basically just initial lineup reaction and then schedule reactions when those come out.

It's not necessarily a unique lineup given the festival saturation but I think the acts on it are more active (new music, one-off shows in the city, etc) which lends itself to the conversation.

The Gov Ball thread has turned into that at times.... But I agree with you, the Pano lineup is incredibly boring. Their Sunday isn't bad if you can look passed The Killers though. I'll be there for that.

Moodymann reissued both Black Mahogani and Silence in the Secret Garden this year and they both appear to have sold out basically instantly, although it did drive down the prices on Discogs a little.
Edit: actually it looks like the Black Mahogani 3LP is not sold it and is available for $130 plus shipping
That’s right, this is another post about Moodymann.

Right. I thought most threads slow down after lineup drop, pickup after schedule release, recap, etc. The idea that this thread is just slow because the lineup is so bad is what caught my attention.
