Not totally unrelated, but does anyone watch Shameless? In one of the last episodes of this season, playing Foghat on a boombox was a part of a minor plot.
What's so cool about Despacio? I missed the pano that had it.
It's basically the Platonic ideal of a dance club. The sound is phenomenal, with speakers surrounding the dance floor. The DJ booth is off to the side, unobtrusive, because the creators didn't want it to be about who was spinning - they wanted it to be about the music. The vibe, at least at Panorama 2016, was super-chill - nobody was acting like a douche, and everybody just seemed to want to have a good time and get along. And the music being spun is just top-notch.
I think even describing it that way doesn't really get the point across - leading up to the festival, I kept reading about how great it was and thinking, "Psh, sure, it's a disco, whatever - it can't be that great." And then, it was. Like, I'm not a dance club guy, in the slightest, not at all...but if the experience of going to a club were anything at all like the experience of Despacio, I'd be doing it all the time.

Oh hey remember when I said a bunch of things about Janet Jackson a while back, and y'all were appalled?
I ended up listening to The Velvet Rope to see what the fuss was about. Was not impressed. There's definitely a bunch of creative ideas, but the production is too overblown and Janet's voice is weak as hell. No dynamism whatsoever. Such a shame, because the pop songwriting is certainly impressive (imagine how good a cover of the track Go Deep would be from someone who actually has pipes).

Carry on y'all!
What do you hate women or something? Cause that’s the only logical explanation as to someone not liking her.

I mean...yes? But that wasn't my point, here. I was just pointing out that, even for someone like me who doesn't like dance clubs, Despacio was the shit.
I dunno, man. Sorry if that came across in some way as being a jerk. Wasn't my intention.
His shows are going to be a blast. I'm ready for Sunday. Jealous I'm not going to see him on that giant screen this year though.
Why won't he be on the main stage?
I just meant I won't be there this year, mainly because of the Radiohead dates and personal tastes from the people I went with the last two years. I could see it going either way, but it makes sense that it would be David Byrne>the xx>The Killers on the main stage, but I could also see David Byrne closing the tent too.

Yeah I don't think I am even going to bother with Sunday anymore.. Pretty sure Odesza will be at Osheaga. Byrne at one of those two venues sounds way better than during the day at a festival. Over The Killers... Really the only reason to bother would be to catch The xx again before they disappear for a cycle. Which I really don't think is even worth it.
