I’d also say this about these Byrne shows. I imagine Sunday of Panorama will be ~$30-40 cheaper at its lowest than a floor will be for Byrne at Forest Hills

Kings Theatre or Forest Hills at night during the fall with a 1.5-2 hour set, sounds way freaking better than 40-50 min during the day when its bordering 100 degrees in July. $30-40 extra well spent.
Yeah I don't think I am even going to bother with Sunday anymore.. Already caught Odeszas awesome show at Barclays. Pretty sure theyll be at Osheaga too. Byrne at one of those two venues sounds way better than during the day at a festival. Over The Killers... Really the only reason to bother would be to catch The xx again before they disappear for a cycle. Which I really don't think is even worth it.

Do you have a minute to talk about Moodymann?
Eh don't really care. That was a "if I am already there and nothing is going on, I would go see why you guys keep talking about it" thing for me.
I feel like Panorama has turned into the Microsoft Zune of festivals. Will be a few defenders continuing to say it's good/better than Gov Ball but, overall, just not worth it. Totally top heavy with a bottom line of DJ's that you can likely see at Output throughout the rest of the year.

The after market disagrees with you.
Come on man. The Resale market for a show/fest that is over 3 months out and also not sold out yet is completely irrelevant

Eh idk that day still has so much to see...Rex Orange County and Greta Van Fleet shows both sell out in hours in NY so it'll be cool to see both them for the first time. Byrne at a festival and not amongst the olds should be cool. I'd never go to an Odesza solo show but interested in checking it out. Fleet Foxes are awesome. The xx and Killers are guaranteed to be good shows. Even Mount Kimbie and Moodeyman are interesting.
It's a still a really stacked day that can probably be attended for somewhere between Free - $50.

Wow. This is...I mean, Pano has to be kind of doomed after this year, right?
I see no reason to think that this years fest will sell worse than the years past
I’d be willing to bet the lower price and lineup will probably sell more tickets. If The Weeknd ends up dropping a new album next month they’ll really be cooking with gas. No idea how the profit math will work for them, but they shouldn’t have as much trouble getting people there.
I just don't get why you guys are still comparing this thing to Govball. That lineup is not good, but the kids will still come out. This one hasn't sold all that well since it started, but they've still been able to put together a quality event both years. One might can see some of these DJs at clubs in NYC throughout the year, but it still doesn't fulfill the purpose of the multi-genre festival. Mount Kimbie, Byrne, Moodyman, and xx sounds like a fun day, but that's just me.

If I could do a fest out of town this year the bigger issue for me would be the similarity of this vs. Coachella.
Also, if you’re looking at coming to the fest from out of town, they tend to get a couple DJs that don’t play the US very often. When MCDE was announced last year he hadn’t played the US in years, and then only did this, FYF, and a show in SF. Moodymann only plays 5-6 US shows a year. Some of the undercard acts are fairly easy to catch whenever, but others definitely not.

I mean, yes, both festivals will be easy to get into for below face likely though I think Gov Ball will probably sell out at least one day but, still, I imagine Panorama will struggle to even bring 10k people for some of these days. I don't have a vendetta against either festival, just seems like Panorama is shooting itself in the foot with its top heavy lineup full of names that have already exhausted the area.

I'll be at Fri and Sun of Panorama. It's an enjoyable event mainly because it's NOT crowded. Fri of Panorama in 2017 was how I imagine the attendance SHOULD be that felt crowded, especially since Frank Ocean's stage production blocked a good portion of viewing area in the GA section.
I think more festivals in general could have benefited from a fallow year as opposed to just throwing together another lackluster 2018 lineup. Some of these fests have to be expect a loss this year. Hopefully it doesn't keep anyone from coming back. This is the first year of the decade where there's not an event I feel like I just HAVE to go to.

If you skip a year as a festival, you damage your brand. Glastonbury is an outlier in that they can get away with a fallow year.

I found plenty to like in both the GovBall and Pano lineups - I guess there's some comparison to be done if you have to pick one over the other, but we've budgeted for both the past few years and had a good time. I don't think this year'll be any different on that front.
