Yep, maybe that's what it is. Each of these artists could be playing a main stage, what an announcement! Given the country-tilt of Friday makes me think we might get some sort of epic country headliner. Willie?
He’s outta town.
Gotcha, he's not subjecting himself to a cross country flight at this point. Maybe Parton, Kristofferson, Pride or Emmylou?

Don't we know that one of these new artists is Crosby? at least, according to Twitter. Not like Isbell is gonna zoom down to Floyd Fest then back for Sunday. Anything with Crosby and Isbell has to be on Friday, right?

Yep, very true. I like beaker's Byrds idea for Friday; sign me up.

I already had too many conflicts on Friday before they added this. How are they going to squeeze something else in? I'm going to be exhausted by the time the Cook Brothers get things started.
Finally got my punk-ier booking in Butch Walker! (Of course on the day where I already had the most conflicts.) Haven’t ever explored his music, but I had some friends in high school who were obsessed. Loving three of his top four tracks on Spotify.

Sweetheart of the Rodeo tour would be my guess. Big gap between Wednesday 25th and Sunday the 29th.
"You look like you're listening to every note." - Lady to me during LCD's "final" show 2023: Mar 29 - Guster Apr 6 - Postmodern Jukebox Apr 26 - Father John Misty May 14 - Taylor Swift (Philly) May 17 - Robert Plant and Alison Krauss July 12 - moe. July 16 - CAKE (Portland, ME) July 28-30 - Newport Folk (#12!) Dec 8-9 - Goosemas!
What if David Crosby is the roving artist like Kris Kristofferson and McGuinn/Hillman and Neil Young are unannounced headliners so you get BOTH a Byrds AND A Buffalo Springfield Reunion at some point? Sorry I may have ingested entirely too much corn this evening.

But with the harsh reality finally dawning on folks about what is happening to this country -- and the continually changing signage on the NFF website : new artists, new announcements -- one gets the feeling that as performers, meet and talk, a me too Newport may be growing. Jay's phone ringing. I could be dreaming, but David Crosby is not in a vacuum. I can really see a whole bunch of current and former movement people wanting to play. For what it's worth, may you live in interesting times.
Ftr McGuinn and Crosby hate each maybe more than any of the other people Crosby hates. Sweetheart of the rodeo was made after Crosby left the Byrds and he is not a part of the tour. The possibility of Crosby being there in no way increases the chances of the byrds and probably decrease
"More Artists Coming" now listed for all three days. And now we wait for the lineup.....
While I like today’s announcement and think this is what makes Newport, Newport; I can’t help but wish it was reversed with Friday’s Museum Stage set. Friday is so overloaded with good music, it’s almost not fair. There are artists on the museum stage on Friday with more Spotify plays than artists that are seemingly playing main stages on Sunday. I could have used an extra little jolt on Sunday, such as a Communion or Bluegrass Situation booked Museum Stage.
Valerie June (Scheduled) Gary Clark Jr. (Scheduled) Buddy Guy (Available and Local) Lucinda Williams (Available)(Playing Jazz Fest) Common (Available) (MI with The Roots,OH, Open 29th)

Don’t think it’s going to happen, but did something recently happen that makes you say this? As of last year, they were saying really nice things of each other.

I guess they had apparently reconnected in the last few years which I was unaware of, but it’s still no mistake roger is doing a sweetheart of the rodeo tour.

The schedule will be interesting to see, especially with my Neil Young pick for Saturday. Will Lukas Nelson be the sub-headliner on the main stage? If they are, Neil could just walk out!
Agree. I think the schedule should clear up some confusion and uncertainty. For instance, the lead in on Saturday may help us have a better idea as to who will headline (as was stated).
But, I’m now thinking we might not get the schedule until the night before the fest to keep everything a surprise. Especially if we have unannounced headliners.

They did update the site to say “Early July” for schedule.
“Thanks for your patience, the 2018 schedule will be posted in early July”
