Parlor fits like 40 people tops....
It's a restaurant that just happens to have a small corner that musicians can set up in an a few folks can gather around. Phil Cook did his aftershow there in 2016 and it was possibly my favorite Newport moment behind Roger Waters. It feels at least twice as intimate as blues cafe. And less than half as packed.

Agreed. We saw Texas Gentlemen and Friends there last year and it was the most amazing experience because it was so small. Nathaniel Rateliff was able to spit/sweat on me if he so desired. It was a very casual affair because it was announced so late. Worried that this year might be a little more packed.

Phil Cook was the same. Announced only a few weeks before the fest and didn't have that big of a crowd, though still might have sold out? Toughest part about it was that it ended after 1am. Did start on the later side though so we had plenty of time to go home, go out to dinner, get drinks, etc. after the festival.
My group struck out on getting enough Deer Tick tickets for one night, but we did pretty well today. It looks like we have 2 extra Cook Brothers tickets and 2 extra Glorietta tickets for Saturday night. We also have 4 Deer Tick tickets for Saturday night.
We would be willing to trade all those extras for 6 Deer Tick tickets for Sunday night, or trade our Saturday Deer Tick tickets for Friday Deer Tick tickets. Message me if you're interested.

I actually felt more cramped there than I typically feel at the blues cafe. I’m usually as far back as possible though and just didn’t have a great place to stand out of the way unless I was on the other side at the bar.
Hilarious that Newport sends an email about the aftershows being on sale 5 minutes AFTER they go on sale and are essentially gone.
Reminds me of when I worked in radio with someone who ran with the A- listers. She had this interesting habit of sending you an invite to some ritzy gala the day after it was held. A way of saying, you are not really invited, but didn't want to stand you up. I know that was not Newport's intent. But it unnecessarily stirred memories.
As someone who -- like most NFF attendees -- has just never been able to make an After Show with other things happening, really bummed not to attend Glorietta, FJM or Deer Tick...who perhaps will still be announced for the Fort. Intend to catch them at the Sea, Here Now Fest in Asbury Park in September.
SO speaking for the rest of us -- what's up with the rest of the schedule at the Fort? Theoretically there is only one slot left for Saturday, but the More Artists to Be Announced still graces the bottom of each day's schedule. I don't recall that in the past. Are those the Museum Acts to come next? Or are some already announced acts playing indoors in what may now be considered a 4th indoor stage? Arghh...those lines to get in!
It seems awkward that only one more headliner -- maybe -- is to come. A lot of pressure on them? Or are there more open spots than we know? Don't care about the big names. Just wanna know! But speaking of larger names or classic oldies, is anyone besides Jack White worthy of a final announcement, who would play Newport, but possibly tied up by the Radius Clause? Or the Sanity Clause? (I still believe in Sanity Clause when at NFF)
We all consider it a strategic omission on Newport’s part, but given NFF’s silence, it could also be that a band backed out last minute. This has happened to most major festivals at some point over the last 10 years. I don’t see why it couldn’t be the case for Newport.
Maybe FJM is the backup plan in case they can’t find someone to fill the spot.
I’m selfishly hoping there’s no surprise headliner on Saturday, so I can leave early for FJM without missing anything good
Same, no disrespect to Cheech and Chong who I'm sure will be fun but if they turn out to be Saturday's Headliner we'll be to Deer Tick as early as ever.

That's a good point I've been right on the cusp of doing Sasquatch the last two years and I recall watching the Frank Ocean drama play out in real time. The rolling lineup basically means we'll never know.
Speculation is fun though--if that scenario is right who else could be the backup? MMJ? Roger Waters again? Avetts? Ray LaMontagne? I'm thinking of people who are "folk family" since you'd imagine Jay would be calling in a major favor.

If the headliner ends up being a replacement that is called in, it will probably be some folk family doing a special, once in a lifetime set, a la 65 Revisited.
I could see Dawes or Deer Tick doing some crazy tribute set. Petty, Prince, Bowie something along those lines.

They HAVE been pretty good about removing the "more artists" notification when they were truly done announcing the last couple of years, and it's hard to believe they suddenly just got really bad at announcing the lineup. Maybe someone quit? Maybe they're leaving it to be clear that when the schedule comes out there will be several "unannounced" slots?
Do we know if Panorama affects Newport's "radius?" I feel like the answer is no because Alabama Shakes were announced for both in 2016 (And Pres Hall is announced for both?) But there are a bunch of people on there who would seem to fit which could mean that they were just never announced? Arcade Fire, Alabama Shakes, Kurt Vile, Sufjan...

I really figured Petty would be there one day, so I'd take some catharsis in the form of a tribute. Deer Tick backing Stevie Nicks to play Tom Petty's greatest hits top to bottom....nah now I'm just getting my hopes up.

I don't think so, there's been crossover before.
If it's anything, it could be Boston Calling holding back some announcements.

Regarding the “more to be announced” tiles. I just checked the Jazz site for the hell of it. Friday for them is complete and the tile is gone.
I assume the same person manages both, but who knows.
