I will be checking in periodically, but not as much as usual the next two days. Going camping this weekend and I hope to catch a glimpse of Danbob's face melting onto the ground of the pit at his first Jacket show tonight.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Wow it's quiet. I feel like there was something up with the movement in round 1 with the 5 ways, but I'm not sure what to make of it yet. Round 1 was a mosh pit. Ever since it's been like the tortoise in The Tortoise and the Hare.
Honestly, I think it is because we had 2 Mafia in there and they were trying to expand it. I could be wrong. But that is why Pablo ended up with my vote even though I don't usually make moves like that. I didn't want JR to be voted off AGAIN when it is obvious how much flex we had when he was Mafia to keep him out of a first day run-off and he falls into them every other time for the last games. I assume if JR ends up in a first day run-off by the end of the round, he is either town or has shitty Mafia partners working with him.
It could be townies doing things that townies don't usually do, trying to make the game a little more exciting. But it was a strange move and noteworthy.
this has been said a few times. looking over how it was shaped;
What's interesting to me is that Pablo has received the decisive vote in each round.
D1R1 Carini > Pablo (not counting Maddog's throwaway vote after this one as decisive)
D1R2 Taint > Pablo
D1R3 LLL > Pablo
D1R4 Maddog > Pablo
This is indeed interesting. Similarly, in both R2 and R3, the order of votes went first to JR, then to Potent, then to Pablo. I think this is worth noting because it's common for Mafia to employ two strategies: vote early to get the runoff shaped how you want it, or vote late so you can make more deciding votes.
So we have JR consistently being voted for first in runoffs, and Pablo consistently being voted for last. That feels a little too coincidental to me.
And looking at the ending Pablo votes, seeing what player was effectively saved.
D1R1 Carini' vote added Pablo to make a 5-way. Maddog's vote "saved" Danbob from the runoff.
D1R2 Taint's Pablo vote effectively "saved" Zoloft from the runoff
D1R3 LLL's switch onto Pablo effectively "saved" JR from the runoff.
D1R4 Maddog's vote for Pablo effectively "saves" Potent from dying.

I didn't save Danbob, someone else took him out of the runoff
I think most of the loudness was due to self-defense more than Mafia's steering.
I find Maddog's post above interesting. Basically, JR-Potent-Zolah-Dan started in the runoff. They (we) were all in it until Pablo replaced Danbob, then we fell off one by one until Pablo was the last one "standing". Looking at it that way makes Pablo look like a victim here, though not necessarily a victim of Potent. I'm also at work somewhat on the DL and without my voting spreadsheet. Was it Carini who pushed Pablo in and Maddog who pulled Danbob out? It was so early in the game though that it's almost trivial, but worth noting.

Here we have 3 direct savers (Maddog (2x), Tainted, LLL) and four savees (Danbob, Zolah, JR, and Potent). This leads me to initially think that there's not too much to be gleaned here yet, since there's no overlap between savers and savees. And I don't think Maddog's vote for Pablo can be read too harshly just yet since we could say the same thing about him if he had voted for Potent.
It's also worth noting that your move off of LLL saved her as well. Your vote was on LLL, then Pablo stacked up on her. Afterwards you took your vote off of LLL, saving her from going forward for the time being, and put your vote on Pablo. Did you leave this out of your data for any particular reason? Now that I'm looking at it, it looks a bit like retaliation.
At this point it doesn't sit well with me that Pablo got thrown into the mix at the very end of Day 1, and now he's being set to get voted off.
Fine where my vote is right now. Going to be at MMJ tonight so my involvement will be limited tonight (see you there LLL). I'm interested to see what the whack is going to be because right now I just have a lot of unknowns.
What do you think about Potent being Mafia if it wasn't Pablo? I know it is too early to tell, but I think we had Mafia in there somewhere. And the one I doubt most being Mafia is JR.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I mean of course it's a possibility; I don't have enough of a read either way though.
I guess I'll vote now since my patient is still sleeping it off.
LLL>>>>my ole Mafia pal JR
How odd that JR consistently ends up in Day 1 runoffs.
I voted for him looooon before things moved to a run-off. And I have many games as a first vote before. He is like my new SFA.
But I agree. I really need to pick someone else to be a fallout vote round 1 because I have become complicent with what has become the norm of JR being in day one last run-off now that it has happened for a 3rd time in 4 games. So I am even more satisfied that I moved off of him.

It wasn't in my data because I was explicitly looking at the end of round Pablo votes. Maddog and my switches at the end of D1R1 could be viewed similarly in that they both preserved a 4-way runoff by dropping someone else out of the runoff.
I had initially only moved to LLL to help bring the runoff down to a 4-way and free up my vote. Pablo then went rogue and pushed the runoff back to a 5-way, so I switched again to being the runoff down to a 4way. That. Was my reasoning for my switches: 4way runoff with me as a revoter.
I was a little pissy D1R1 about how it went down because I made 2 switches to placeholders in order to preserve a 4-way And in both circumstances, someone re-stacked on my fresh vote..
