Honestly have no idea what I'll do as far as the schedule goes, outside of the City Plaza shows. Did just notice that CAM was missing as a venue so RIP that walk.
Oh wow. Good catch. My brain didn't even process that. Makes me wonder a bit more about the new venue then.
The VIP party info is up on the website, too. Dunno if you caught that or not.
Thanks, didn't notice that. Three nights of free drinking for a while could get pretty saucy.
noon - 12:40 – Daniel Bachman (only show of festival weekend!) 1:00 - 1:30 – Mary Lattimore & Mac McCaughan (only show of festival weekend!) 1:50 - 2:20 – Long Hots (only show of festival weekend!) 2:35 - 3:15 – Meg Baird (only solo set of festival weekend!) 3:30 - 4:10 – Wet Tuna (only show of festival weekend! first NC show!) 4:30 - 5 - Grouper (totally different set)
Friday: Three Lobed day party > DVSN > Thundercat > Miguel > Grizzly Bear > Empath > Circuit des Yeux > No Age
Saturday: WUNC Music day Party > Eric Bachman > wrestling > Speedy Ortiz > Moses Sumney > Liz Phair > Nile Rodgers & CHIC > MC50 > Renata Zeigur > Mind Over Mirrors > Maty Lattimore & Meg Baird
Day parties are lacking for me this year but I'm excited that Grouper conflict got resolved.
Peep those schedules again, y'all. Some of the times have been shifted. Looks like I'll get Nathan Bowles Trio after all.
E: there was also a new percussionist day party announced for Saturday, at Neptunes, that features a bunch of drummers I like: m.facebook.com/events/311402746107023/
Noise makers from Manas (!), Ahleuchatistas (!), Kid Millions (!) and Dave Mathews Band (?). Plus a screening of the Milford Graves documentary. I'll be there for sure.

I swear to God I will go to this music festival one of these years. That looks awesome.
Three Lobed always throws the best parties, imo. It’s a yearly event, too. I just saw Long Hots open for Vampire Belt (Bill Nace (Body/Head) and Chris Corsano) here a few nights ago. Pretty psyched to see them soon again too.
I was actually just thinking about Hopscotch today when I got an email from 3 lobed:
- We are overjoyed to be able to announce the impending release of Ghost Forests, the debut collaborative album from Meg Baird and Mary Lattimore. After years of closely following the musical output of these two friends, we proposed the concept of a ground-up collaboration to them about two years ago. The stars have aligned with everyone’s busy schedules and Ghost Forests will cruise into your life to change it for the better on November 9. This LP really is magical – it is the perfect union of two sympathetic and understanding musical voices. For those of you attending the Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh NC this coming weekend be sure to circle their live debut performance of this material at Nash Hall on Saturday night (September 8) on your itinerary.

Well that's fantastic news. I keep pitching a story on Three Lobed at my new job. It's only barely related to the stuff we cover. I absolutely do not care. I will convince someone to pay to me fanboy over them in some way shape or form for an afternoon.
Both Sleep and Skeletonwitch floored me. H.C McEntire was great. Nest Egg and Flasher was a good way to kick off the festival.
The real winner was the D9 Brown Sugar Brown Cow Mocha Brown Ale which I drank non-stop. I’ll be singing the praise of this beer for years to come. I apparently was so drunk last night I kept telling the bartender I needed moo beer and they understood. Props, North Carolina. You did good.
3 Lobed brought the fire at the day party. Highlights include Daniel Bachman playing a 45 minute drone set, Wet Tuna psyching out for what felt like forever and Grouper blowing minds.
Switched up my game plan after the Red Hat fiasco and ran to Patio Counselors > Empath > Molly Burch > Swearin’. Reeeally impresed with Patio Counselors. It was like a no wave Parquet Courts. Empath were incredible. Little stage banter and all go. This is a band people need to keep an eye on. If the can record an album with the live energy and not as much feedback, they’re gonna blow up huge. Molly Burch was so-so but I needed to insure a spot for Swearin’. They took home the Gold for me. I danced. I cried. It was incredible.
Day 3 and waiting for the rain to start. Starting at the percussionist day party at Neptune’s and headed to the block party after that. Tonight I’m waiting on weather to figure out my plan. Betting I end up at Nash Hall tonight for the duration.
Did anyone see No Age last night? Upset that I couldn't make it, but I just started a new job and am getting married in 7 days. I'll try for next year, haha.

When was leaving Empath last night they had already moved to "one in, one out" at Kings. It was gonna be a tough show to get into, for sure.

I would have gotten in early for sure. I was going to try to come up last night for it, but it just didn't work out.
Congratulations on getting married NoAge! Does she love music?
She does, but Bonnaroo would not be the best setting for her. I was thinking Newport Folk Fest or something like that. Probably a hotel instead of a tent.
