That's already larger than their Panorama crowd felt fwiw
OUCH. No wonder the crowd was never shown.
Ive read almost all festivals operate at a loss for the first few years. Life is Beautiful has lost $$ every year so far except last year. I would love more input from someone who some real experience on this subject about how you actually profit from music festivals. How much $$ goes into each factor including production, security, tickets, marketting, ect. It's mind boggling to me at times.

NIN in the pouring rain at D4N is one of the top concert experiences of my life. Certainly sucked it was cut short though, it was crazy definitely didn't realize how soaked I was until the walk back to my hotel.. absolutely drenched. The rain made it such an intense show though, it was f'n perfect.
When did D4N get announced last year? This is my 'can't miss' festival after last year, but if it's not happening I want to try and work something else for the summer/fall.

I think the one big thing people don't realize makes a huge difference on how much money a festival makes is sponsors and vendors, which are hard to come by until you have an established brand.
Like I bet you could throw a decent festival just with the money Heineken pays Coachella to be their sole beer sponsor.
D4N had a Heineken tent/DJ booth right smack in the middle. I was thinking they must have paid a fortune for it.
If this festival is thinking about branching out (like rumors indicate) of a full week with the first few days being art installation passes only, I can see them making a fortune. $40 admittance to the warehouse during the week to see the exhibits, locals would do it for sure.

They did presales in December. People were bitching about the lack of news in March, and they said they wouldn't let us down. Since we didn't get the presales this year, it's likely to be tiered maybe starting with an Early Bird release. They have to get through their rescheduled Texas BBQ Fest thing either this weekend or next weekend, and then there are no more excuses for not at least dropping some information. Their social media has been active, just not centered on this year yet.
Really wish this fest wasn’t in December when it’s super hard to get time off work. By far my favorite fest I’ve been to.
It being in December is my favorite part. I love wearing layers to a festival rather than sweat my balls off. I can more easily get time off though so I get it.
I was wonderin' if they were going to be headlining this last year, but then ACL snagged them.
They would be a wonderful headliner to build the festival around. Book a bunch of collaborators and have an epic setlist of features.
Del, Neneh Cherry, De La Soul, Hot Chip, Soulwax, Metronomy, Tinie Tempah, Snoop, Yasiin Bey(!!), bring back Little Dragon, Vince Staples, Popcaan, Danny Brown, Kelela, Kali Uchis, Savages, Grace Jones(!!)
Hyped about Day for Night. It's the only festival I would still go to even if the lineup was underwhelming.
So Mrs. Blotter and I have agreed to give up NYE shows since she has a demanding service industry job and they are stressful, and we are going to focus on catching D4N moving forward. Very stoked about this!
The Gorillaz option comes to close to be to most realistic, because it's the least stacked one. Post Malone is an artist I never ever see playing a festival like DfN.
I hope they continue to grow towards a festival like Rewire/Le Guess Who? rather than trying to book bigger bands to attract a bigger crowd. I also feel like Gorillaz is a tad bigger than Nine Inch Nails but I could be wrong.
They booked Cardi B right before Bodak Yellow became a mainstream succes (I know it dropped earlier in 2017 but it got viral only a few months later, no?). 2016 Travis Scott isn't even as close to being popular as Post is right now. Imo Post is a lot bigger then you think.

Bodak Yellow was def huge and so was Birds in the Trap. I’d say it’s similar. Post would be a great number 3 here.

I think most of us know Post is crushing it. This means he'll demand headliner $$$ which for our taste would suck. But who knows. I agree with what your saying that the ship has probably sailed to get him on the cheap.

I think Janelle is there almost for sure in the Solange (she was at both last year) slot. Not sure if I'm going to make it back this year or not, but GOD I hope so. I freakin love this fest. Would love something like...
Depeche Mode - Grace Jones - Janelle Monae - Zedd - YYY - Anderson Paak - The XX - Carpenter Brut - Todd Terje - MGMT
