The year that The Cure headlined Sasquatch was apparently the worst attendance year, and there were very few people in the crowd. They'd be a cool headliner, but they also seem like one of those acts that can sell out an arena in a big city to their old fans but wouldn't big a huge draw at a multi genre fest.
i agree they'd be perfect for D4N, but I wonder if they would move tickets in Houston?
other random thoughts:
electronic music-wise, I'd love to see D4N book a name like Carl Cox or Hawtin in the Justice slot.
i think a big hip-hop name would be good for D4N as well, maybe even first or second name on the lineup.
i'd love a full Bun B set in the afternoon.
a punk band a la NOFX on the Green stage would be great.
The Cure would probably move more tickets than any other headliner this fest has had.
gotcha. i just get the impression from Texas inforoo'ers that Texas is an odd duck when it comes to ticket sales. artists that reliably sell well elsewhere in the US don't always fare as well in Texas.

Their arena show in Austin a couple of years ago sold out. Not sure about Houston.

I think the Cure have played the Toyota Center in the past few years, and iirc their tickets weren't available on the Flash Seats resale app, which is usually only the case for very hot, in-demand tickets.
They'd be a great headliner and probably more of a draw than even NIN.
What do y'all think about The Cure playing D4N? Someone mentioned it on the Voodoo thread and I think they would be a great fit.
I would love that. Hopefully they’d get at least three hours. I’d have to skip part of them or miss some other really good late sets.
Ugh, yea, that would be rough.
When I first saw The Cure at Voodoo '13, they had Dr. John doing a Nite Tripper set at another stage at the same time. I had to leave for about 30 mins and missed One Hundred Years etc
On the upside I got to hear Dr. John play Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya-Ya, Loop Garou and Mama Roux. He never plays those super old songs anymore.
Both of these bands would be amazing gets but idk if I could see them pulling both. If they did I’d buy my ticket in an instant.
You don't really need either to know it will be a top level experience regardless of who headlines. If they'd fucking release them, I'd buy my ticket in an instant. :/
I started to make a mock but got bored so mad a long wishlist instead. I tried to keep is somewhat reasonable. Saving my Yellow stage wishes for another list because things were getting out of hand.

We have a buddy who's huge into the Cure and had to miss Saturday/NIN last year for a wedding. Bless his heart. I hope we get the Cure, even though idc about them really.
Should I feel bad about not liking The Cure at all and thinking they're hugely overrated?
at a high level, as a fan of music, i think you at least need to learn to appreciate "Disintegration". It's a perfect record.
^^ This all day
The Cure is one of those bands that people don't care about/hate or absolutely love with not many in the middle.
I was a goth kid in the 90's so The Cure was mandatory listening to me along with Siouxsie, Bauhaus, Skinny Puppy etc.
I'm way more into them now than I was growing up and I would attribute that a good bit to seeing them live for the first time at Voodoo '13. For me at least, The Cure is about as good as live music gets. They're very psychedelic and Robert Smith can pull your heart in any direction he wants. It's crazy.
Also as someone mentioned earlier, I would be very down for a full Bjork set. Seeing her front row at Roo '13 was pretty special for me.
Today I picked up 3 gentlemen Who seemed very rich and they were talking about business deals.
One of them asked to the other "did day for night hurt our bottom line?"
The other replied " day for night was a huge financial failure. I own 50 percent and it's a shame you cant dissolve a festival.. theres no way to liquidate... I made no money last year.. too many tickets sold at cost" I'm not sure what he owns 50 percent of... they sounded like shareholders or investors...
It's hard for me to tell you word-for-word I'm not sure exactly what they were saying but it was clear to me that there were saying that day for night is not happening this year.
said to each other do not broadcast this this can't get out yet.. The one guy was angry that he talked about it in the uber.
Eh...I mostly don't believe this but part of is a bit worried.
Would suck royally though. I’ve grown to look forward to getting that last festival in, in December. If accurate, they were too ambitious for the market and too ahead of their time. And America sucks these days.

Went through the guys Reddit history and he doesn't strike me as a troll. But I'm not going to mourn until we get confirmation or real cancellation scoopz.
I'm sure it's entirely possible that investors genuinely are disappointed and dislike the current model of Day For Night. That tall Uber tale doesn't necessarily mean it'll be cancelled though.
Or that supposed Uber driver is a plant working for a rival festival trying to take D4N down. first suspect, sound on sound, somebody investigate, followthemoney
