I've never seen it as necessary to wait in the pit line all day for a headliner. As long as you go to the side of the stage near the VIP hill its always quite easy to get into the pit.
For headliners I usually get in line right after the act before the pre-HL on What finishes their set. Last year I got up there for U2 and in the past I've seen Kanye, Deadmau5, and Arcade Fire from the pit.
Pit access at What is one of Bonnaroo's biggest selling points for me. The ability to see almost any act (besides HLs) from the pit is great, you can show up usually 15 mins before and walk right in, same thing at Which the last couple years. I don't know if people just aren't aware of it, or maybe they think its VIP only?
I would never wait all day in a pit line but I can totally understand why someone would do it. If your favorite artist of all time is playing it would be worth it to have a prime spot. Plus you still get to see all the which stage artists which are always pretty enjoyable.

Isbell was the pre-pre-HL, as you're describing.
I did that for LCD (end of CHVRCHES, J Cole, LCD) and Dead, so I'd say that's a good rule of thumb, sure. Deadmau5 I got in right after Kendrick. I wasn't really planning on it, but I was over there and it was clearly very short.
A lot of times the What Pit is shaded depending on angle of the sun for future reference.
But that's when the bees from the left side tend to wander. Best to stay away.
I've never encountered these bees people talk about and I've been going since 2013 (didn't do the pit until 2015). I almost think the bees are some inforoo inside joke to keep people away from the pit line.

You might think that, if you didn't know any better.

The bees are there. I put it on the survey every year to fix it but they never listen. It’s such an easy fix as well, which makes it worse.

I just don't think enough people are aware of the What pit (which is a plus to me). When I was last at Roo in 2013 me and my group walked up to the Tom Petty pit literally 30 seconds before his set started and we got in.
Did they still have pit lines on both sides of the What last year? I never saw a line on the right side as I had in previous years, and the lines also seemed longer than usual on the left.

I've literally never tried for right. Maybe the Moneyball move is to go right now?

If I plan on staying and any show at Bonnaroo for more than 30 minutes (most shows), i make a giant circle all the way around the crowd from stage left to stage right and then into the center from there.
Its amazing to me that the feeder pattern for every stage except which take you to stage left, and still the mindless hordes just accept it and tumble in to the same packed side. I figured that shit out by my first late night.

I honestly think that last year they *only* had a line on the left. And that's why the lines were longer. I want to say that I had asked one of the security people and they confirmed, but it was so long ago at this point that I can't remember for certain.
Either way, if they *did* switch it, I'd imagine they might go back to the two line format this year, as there was some noticeable crowd control issues with the line for many of the pre-HL and HL acts last year (at least more than I had noticed in the pit line during previous years).

Daily lineup today? Does roo ever drop announcements on Wednesdays?
Yeah, but Shaky Knees just announced their days which is why I think they'll wait until tomorrow.
Also, they made the announcement that the daily lineup was coming out this week last Thursday. Seems sensible to make that announcement exactly one week before the actual daily lineup drop.

I'm glad we're getting this earlier than usual, this announcement is almost as important as the lineup itself. Plus it makes creating mock schedules a lot easier.

Yeah but they could still easily fuck up a stacked day in the schedule.

Wish they'd announce Late Nights with this as well

A little confused how things will work with Bon Iver. I'd say the whole two consecutive Which sets would make sense, but .Paak is too small to pre-HL imo. So, most likely scenario seems to be What pre-HL and LN Which.
