Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I guess it’s cool they have a dedicated turn down spot now, but “bring your pillow and blankets” is pretty funny
All of these add-ons will probably be cool once you are at the festival, but they don't help get people to the festival in the first place. An odd way to allocate funds. But who knows, this entire Tonalism thing may cost 1/3 of what Carnage alone costs to book.
Don't think CHIC would get LN. And I'm envisioning the Bon Iver sets only having maybe a 30 minute break in between, so probably both LN Which. Wherever they are, I'd rather have them as one big chunk so they aren't conflicting with a top-billed artist (Sylvan Esso, .Paak, etc.) before Em AND LN sets.
TWO late night which sets? That’s a new take lol. That’d basically be a 3 hour block of time AFTER Eminem finishes. I can’t really see that happening.
At this point, so many scenarios have been suggested and I feel like we should just wait it out. We’ve got no way of knowing until they make some kind of announcement. I had said this in a prior post, but I DM’d Roo on twitter to see if they’d drop a hint about the Bon Iver set scheduling, and in their response, they made it seem like there would be an announcement specifically about one or both of the sets. So it’s possible we won’t have to wait until the schedule drops to get a better idea (maybe it could come with the LN announcement? Who knows).
I was thinking more like 12:45-1:45 then 2:00-3:00. So it wouldn't take up 3 hours. It'd be more similar to what Tame was scheduled for.
So is Justin Jay a lock to open the other at 530 on thursday?
Last year, the Other started up at 7:45. The number of acts slated to play the Other on Thursday this year is equal to last year. So, I’d expect Justin Jay will likely be that first act. Same slot as Goldfish.

2019 Shows: 4/30 - Vampire Weekend 6/28 - Father John Misty & Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit 9/6 - Cardi B w/ Teyana Taylor 9/28 - Vulfpeck w/ The Fearless Flyers
I left the last 10-11 acts each day as that is the usual total of Miller/Who acts each day. Using last years schedule as a template it looks like there's room to add 4 more acts, 2 on Friday and 2 on Saturday.
Thurs Dreamers > Ron Gallo > Justin Jay > OPIUO > Elohim > Valentino Khan
Fri Bayonne (zero percent chance I'm up to make it to this set) > Manchester Orchestra > Tash Sultana > Chromeo > Rufus Du Sol > Paramore > Muse > Shiba San > Superjam > Virtual Self

Two ~45 min sets. First set = 22, AM in full. Second, a great mix. Then an encore. Probably around 2 hours for the entirety of the show. This is apparently the general format he’s going to follow for all of this leg of his tour.
If this is what he does, i think it’s just a question of What pre-HL vs Which LN.

...isn't it a bit misleading to label this as two entirely different sets, then?
A little bit, though still technically true. But Bonnaroo has showed they're willing to be misleading to sell more tickets, considering the sole factor that made me decide to go to my first Roo was seeing that Tame had a 2 hour set time which I knew they'd never done before.
...isn't it a bit misleading to label this as two entirely different sets, then?
Yeah. But tbh I'd rather there be one roughly 2-hour set. At least, opposed to two separate hour-long sets, one of which I may have to miss due to conflicts.
And, I'd also be happy were it to be laid out similar to the setlist from London. Add in some cool surprises (guests, deep cuts, etc.) and it'd be well worth it to me.

In other news, T-Pain is apparently leading late night karaoke at the Grind lol. Not sure whether that rules him out for an actual late night set or what.
edit: also, confessionals with Space Jesus? this shit is straight out of a movie lol

not joking, i think it is cool that bonnaroo is attempting to produce experiences like this. bonnaroo's identity use to be that it is and absurd and silly place. i'm glad to see them embracing that again.

I'll say the artist activities are neat. Holy Ship has them, and I left the ship regretting not participating in at least one. We had dinner next to the area where they did bingo with Mike B, and it sounded like a lot of fun.

I'm down with these experiences being things, though I'm not sure how many I'll actually opt/have the time to participate in. I will say that they certainly haven't failed to surprise me as each new thing gets announced.

I think the only reason anyone would have an issue with that stuff is if they continued to cut back on actual LN sets in favor of these kinda things.
and artist activities are much more exciting when paired with a great lineup and schedule. "i'm going to catch the megadeth set and then go do karaoke with t-pain" are the kinds of things one should be saying at bonnaroo.

Do we know which night T-Pain karaoke is? Because I am so doing this unless it conflicts with something that really matters. But if it's Thursday night I'm 100% in.

Suppose it could be Thursday or Friday. I also don’t know what time they did late night karaoke last year, though I’m 90% certain it was a thing.

That Bon Iver news makes me happy. Really hoping for a long pre headliner What spot with an intermission. I'd be even happier if they give Anderson Paak the Which late night.

Last year they did Karaoke Thurs-Sat from midnight-4am-ish in the Grind then they had DJ's doing vinyl sets from 4am-7am.
Even 30 minutes seems pretty long for a late night show. Not sure if that'd kill the momentum or not.
If they set it up as back to back, I imagine they’d just bill it as one big block of time, as opposed to two separate sets with an hour in between. In other words, I don’t think Bon Iver will play, for example, 7-8 & then 9-10. It’d be 8-10, like MMJ was in 2015.
I figure it’s going to be late night Which though. I just don’t think that any other artist is both billed high enough and fit for that slot.
Someone on reddit said the intermission at the London show was more like 15 mins, the email they were sent prior just listed it as 30.

I think Anderson .Paak and Chic could both work for LN which. If Bon Iver is LN which, there’s really nobody that would make sense to pre-headline on What before Em.
I see it going something like Rag’n’Bone Man (4:00-5:15) -> Rebelution (6:15-7:30) -> Bon Iver (8:30-10:30) -> Eminem (11:30-1)

That Bon Iver news is great, if they were spread out then it would mean missing a lot more to catch both sets. I hope Space Jesus records his confession booth sessions and makes some weird song out of it lol, I'm excited to check out all the new stuff in the campgrounds.

Maybe bump everything up 30 minutes though.
I go back to billing as to why .Paak & CHIC make less sense. They’re both billed lower than previous LN acts aside from EW&F (and they weren’t originally scheduled late night Which - got moved later on).
But then again, .Paak is also billed lower than typical What pre-HL acts. So idk.
Also, they stopped doing hour-15 sets aside from pre-HL acts. So that should fix that 30 mins for you lol.

Just wanna go ahead and clarify that we in no way have confirmed that the Bon Iver sets will follow the layout of the London shows. It just seems to far and away make the most sense at this point. Technically, anything could still happen.

Oh yeah definitely, it just makes a lot of sense. Although as we've seen the past few years, Roo doesn't always do what makes sense haha

I didn't go the year the dead had 2 sets, what did that look like? I realize Bon Iver isn't headlining, but I wouldn't be surprised to find the two have similar structuring.
