The headliners are all getting roughly the same amount of time they got at Lolla/Coachella. Not sure why we’re still expecting special extended sets at Bonnaroo.

I wasn't expecting anything "special", but I wasn't expecting Roo to have their shortest headliner set times they've ever had across the board.

This is the new and improved roo after all. Be sure and check out the sheds.
You really only like 5 artists on the entire lineup?
There's really only a handful of acts I would be excited for. The majority of the stuff I would catch again I've already caught many times.
Haven't seen/Need to see - Everything Everything, Brockhampton, Chic, Ikebe Shakedown
Would see again - Jungle, Thundercat, BSS, Paak, Bon Iver, Sturgill, Rufus, Muse
Everything else would be filler for me.
Gotcha. I don't have a ton more to add to that list (Pond, Moses Sumney, GoGo Penguin, Daniel Caesar, Tom Petty Superjam, Sylvan Esso), but once you divide that amount by 3 days it's closer to 6 acts a day that I'm legit looking forward to with another 3 acts per day that are filler (the Trombone Shorty's of the world).
Yours comes to like 4.25 per day over 3 days though, which is not that bad.
Does anyone actually require a 2 hour Killers set anyways?
Lol I just think 1hr10m isn't enough for Eminem to play his best songs especially considering he's promoting a new album, but also I think Muse deserves longer.

I could see this HL situation kind of like being like last year where they change it last second. It's kind of like what Microsoft did when they announced the Xbox One: make a terrible decision, get complaints, change it, spin it as "we listen to the fans bc we care" when the problem shouldn't have even existed in the first place.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Tbh, I'd guess that the shorter set times largely have to do with how much Roo was willing to pay. I'm assuming it costs significantly more to book an hr-45/2-hr show than it does to book an hr-15. Roo probably had to shell out some last minute cash to U2 in order to get them to extend last year (though they didn't play the full 2 hours).

They should really just nix Thursday at this point.
I'm starting to believe that they choose not to schedule any acts with drawing power on Thursday because they know that nobody will purchase a Thursday Single day ticket regardless.
they could go way back and just book some local knoxville bands on Thursdays...
but yeah, black angels, the national, rodrigo y gabriella, mgmt, vampire weekend, portugal. the man, delta spirit, japandroids, django django, miike snow are all artists I saw on a thursday.

I don't think Bonnaroo really cares that much about single day tickets. I really think they just wanted to shift the focus on Thursday to have people explore some of the extra activities. Which I'm excited about because Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I probably won't be doing a lot of those things. But then again seeing up and coming acts on Thursday getting prime timeslots used to be one of my favorite things about Bonnaroo. But it's whatever...things change. I don't think I'll be bored at Bonnaroo.
I feel like Roo has been known for delivering special headlining performances. It seems like they're just going to hurt their attendance numbers even more if they start doing these super short sets.

Bonnaroo: come on down to Balls Hot Central Bumfuck Tennessee for some great activities! Only $400

I don't know, man. I think this year is proof enough that people will still go to this fest no matter what. Will they sell less? Absolutely. But there's still a sustainable amount here no matter what is on the lineup.

I mean compared to all of the other fests, these headliners aren't that bad. I wouldn't even have noticed they're playing 15 less minutes if you guys wouldn't have pointed it out.

I've noticed that Thursday has been much less fun for me the last two years than it was from 13-15. Exploring can be fun, but I don't need a full 24 hours of exploring. I think you need to at least have two sets you are truly pumped for on that night to get Roo started off on the right foot. And I just can't find them this year.

Yeah there should definitely be a balance. I had a lot of fun last year only seeing The Orwells and The Lemon Twigs. There's not really an equivalent to that this year though. I guess if I were into edm or jam music I'd be more excited for Thursday's lineup.
Ron gallo, spafford, and PPPP are my Thursday. Outside of that I have no idea what I’ll be doing but I’m at least glad I have a few acts I’m genuinely excited for that day
