It's hard to sleep past 9am in camping unless you're a total brick. Tents and cars get hot. And there's nothing else going on that early. If even 20% of the shuttle/parking lot crowd shows up early, it's going to get wild.

I’m thinking about camping with friends just that night in fear of more people shuttling in than we project. But this sale isn’t moving much of anything by the looks of it. Still breezed right through the line. It is really short notice to plan travel on a holiday weekend though if you’re from out of state. Flight prices are usually outrageous Easter weekend.

Totally, I think most of the campers will be there, and if that number's around 35k that's still a ton. I'd be pretty surprised if 20% of non-campers make it, though.
So what’s our prediction? Did W2 even sell 100k tickets?
Definitely think they were struggling, but not sure how much the slow second on sale tells us about how many tickets were left. At the end of the day, the festival is in two weeks, and it’s a big time/financial commitment at the drop of a hat.

Yeah I’m only going cause one of my friends have camping so I bought a ticket last week. Without him I’m not going. I don’t know how it would be to set up a whole group of friends last minute

GA passes are available right now without bundled shuttles. As I understand it, they have to move at least 30K shuttle tickets per their Indio permit (think that's the number? it's definitely around there), hence why they at some point you can only buy bundled. Granted plenty of people buy shuttle passes or prefer to buy them bundled, but I'd be shocked if they hit 80K total tickets for W2 this year. For W1 in the past I know tickets sold so well during pre-sale that the *only* option come onsale was to buy them bundled with shuttle passes.
I'm guessing 70K-75K. Still impressive given that few fests right now move that many for *one* weekend, but the festival bubble has definitely burst.

I had to buy bundled shuttle tickets for GA W2 this year during the actual sale.
Highly underestimating Kanye's pull if you dont think it's gonna be packed to capacity. Idk the capacity of the Sunday Service, but Kanye outdraws Tame and Gambino no matter what time of day he plays. Probably not Ariana at 9am.

Yeah, I'd email for a refund on that shuttle if you're not going to be using it. That's bad.
I'm curious how much the expansion cost. If they did sell out W1 (and I tend to think they did) and only sold 75k W2, it's a wash. I imagine there are some logistical costs associated with expansion, but how much?
Also: this year really speaks to the importance of the radius clause haha. The fact that their biggest headliner has three arena shows in less than a month is a huge depressant on sales. That their next biggest had two arena shows less than four months ago doesn't help either. Blackpink has an arena date. Weezer played in January. And at this point, there are so many localchella shows that I imagine a lot of locals are more inclined to wait on buying now. I've harped on the whole "with a few acts they could've sold 10k that otherwise aren't going" thing, but those are huge factors in the lower sales.
I can't wait to see how they respond with the lineup next year. Also curious to hear what W2 is like if attendance is 75k or below, given the space and stages are designed for 125k.
Yeah I really do not comprehend the idea that people won't come to see the biggest act on the entire poster do a special one-off ultra-rare performance because it's too early. Only act that will have a bigger crowd is Ari.
Keep in mind that if you don't count Kids See Ghosts at Camp Flog Gnaw, the last time Kanye did a full concert that was open to the public was 2016. There is tremendous pent up demand.

If anyone wants to judge crowd size for themselves tickets are still on sale!!

I don’t know the number of people who will be there but I know the percentage will be high. I bet 40-50% of non campers “attempt” to come. I say attempt cause I see a lot of ubers being called at 830 and being all booked up and having ridiculous waits. That morning surge better be high to get drivers to wake up
Industry guests don't get GA tickets - especially W2 - it's that simple.
Friends dad works at a radio station and they’ve always gotten free GA passes for the week of their choice, which has been weekend 2 since 2013. So depending on what your definition of industry is, you’re completely off.
Wouldn't really consider that industry (thinking more live/talent industry - agents, managers, promoters etc.), but fair point

Camping provides a built-in crowd so I'm sure it'll be well attended, but I think you're underestimating the number of people who have completely written Kanye off and just roll their eyes at the mention of his name. Musicians in general are given a pretty long leash in terms of douchey behavior and Kanye has run out of leash about 12 times over.

I will say that even as a lapsed Kanye fan, the Sunday Service intrigues me but everything I read about or every thought I have about it just makes it seem more and more exhausting to attend.
I really think outside of here/reddit, people don’t actually care about the Kanye news. The internet tends to hype things up way more than they should.
You guys this is Kanye were talking about. He’s the biggest musician and one of the biggest people on this planet. People will be there in large numbers. Sure some people have written him off but we’ve seen this type of thing with him before. It seems like he couldn’t kill his career even if he tried. Maybe it wont be absolutely massive because of how short notice it is but it’s going to be largely attended. If he was headlining on the mainstage he’d have a Beyonce/Cardi B sized crowd.

I read this twice trying to gauge sarcasm vs serious and I’m going with serious.
Am i wrong? You don’t have to like him or think he’s good but you can’t deny how big he is.
Yeah I really don’t know. I think anyone who’s not at least skeptical of his draw/appeal at this point is off base.
Flog gnaw sold out instantly. I vow to never see him again (and I was a huge fan! I ran the 2010 Kanye thread on the Coachella board to hype up 2011) but to act like the general public cares as much as me is asking too much. He’s a mega star! Losing thousands of fans is not that big of a dent. Plus people are fake. “Fuck Kanye but yeah I’ll go to this once in a lifetime event at an otherwise underwhelming Coachella devoid of unique experiences that will my make my Instagram followers jealous”.
Again people who think Kanye isn’t a huge draw and this won’t be the single defining event of Coachella 2019 (good or bad) are thinking with their opinion more than a world wide view. Coachella has no buzz (2 headliners with no new album and other headliner polarizing among demographic and has 3 local dates and is touring her 2nd album in 7 months) until Mr West added his name
