Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'd just stay on I-24. It's much quicker and I see no disadvantages.
As far as police, I live close so I don't know of any bad areas. Just don't be conspicuous (no BONNAROO written on the windows, etc), drive the speed limit, wear your seat belt and save the heavy partying for Bonnaroo.
Welcome aboard and karma!

yep, old story here, but we got busted on I70 and i think it was because in the window of our camper was a big sign that said "Hippies Always Welcome" ... it doesnt go up any more unless we are parked cr****
Yeah, I was trying to think the route you would take if you get off I65 and take the back roads....the WORST would probably be the 50/55 area around Lynchburg if you went down that way....there really isn't a downside to doing 24 all the way in unless you just WANT to see some local scenery ....believe me....I come in the back way just because the interstate is out of my way and it takes JUST as long to get in ....there aren't any shortcuts - LOL!
Actually, don't put up anything that says "I donate to the police department" btw.. according to a few cops, that will make them suspicious and they'll try to get a closer look at you..

Yeah, I think I am just going to take i-24 the whole way. I did a google map search and saw it was all interstate and was a bit disappointed... I hadsome dream of back roads adventures all the way down... haha

Really.
I just donated to the fund for families who have lost their spouses in the line of duty and got a sticker. I guess I will not put it up now.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Most of the cars I saw pulled over last year had the bonnaroo sticker that came with the tickets last year. Just don't speed and don't give them a reason to pull you over, every year I see cars just asking to be messed with.
Exactly, hate to say it but the cars that got pulled over LOOKED as though they were going to Bonnaroo - tons of stickers, signs int he windows, 6 people in a Nissan Sentra with flapping sleeping bags bungeed to the roof...
And RVs; saw a TON of the rented RVs pulled over.
We didn't speed much, we kept our items well tied down and covered with a tarp in the back of our clean truck, no stickers and no issues with the cops. I think a lot were pulling over not because of speed but because appearance made them assume something interesting would be in the vehicle.
My friend is a state trooper; he says he pretty much ignores any stickers on cars because so many people put them up in hopes of getting away without a ticket. However, if in conversation or your wallet a cop finds out you are military or related to a cop, then yes, they will be more lenient.

On the way back from Bonnaroo we got pulled over on our way back into ky... We were barely speeding, and they ended up searching our whole car just because we had a Bonnaroo sticker on the back of it! He gave us some b.s. line about us being the first car they had pulled over leaving roo, and as soon as they searched us and let us go, we saw someone else get pulled over with the same bumper sticker! Talk about some stereotyping.

Last year the minute we crossed the VA state line there were 3 or 4 police cars on the side of the road waiting for someone to clock in 66 mph in the 65.
On the way back, same spot. :-p
Anyone traveling through VA should just suck it up and drive the speed limit. Cops are douches here 365 days a year, but even more so on that Wednesday and Monday in June
I have never had a speeding ticket and I'll be 32 on Saturday. Also have had Masonic tags since I was 21, but then again I am a pretty careful driver.......
i've heard from cops that Military stickers give you a good advantage.
ive had first hand experience with this...i used to drive my grandpa's car and he was ex navy...so he has like a merchant marines sticker, navy, and marines....
anyways i was driving on the freeway going like 75+ in the right lane....all the way in the left lane theres a cop that i didnt see... all he does is flash his floodlight at me.... i slow down end of story... i thought this over and i couldnt think of any reason other than those stickers.

the best advice i would give would be to go approximately 8 miles over the limit if you're in a hurry (except where the speed limit is already 70, then i would slow down to only five over) and anywhere near state borders is where you are most likely to get stopped, ESPECIALLY on main highways. I've never had a problem "advertising" my destination as roo as long as i've followed all the other laws
The only way to truely be sure you dont get pulled over is to not break any laws. And even then you may still get pulled over.
If the speed limit is 65 mph, then it is just that, the speed LIMIT.....It is not the starting point. Dont go over 65. Also, if you see a cop with someone pulled over in the interstate, MAKE SURE YOU MOVE TO THE OTHER LANE!!!!!!! Cops will leave the person they have pulled over to come after you to enforce this law. Here in TN they are super serial about this law.
Number one piece of adivce, dont speed. If you are speeding and get pulled over, dont be surprised!
We were coming back from Roo last year throught I-40 in NC, pulling off from the rest stop I was doin like 45 a trooper pulls me cause I didnt have my seatbelt on,100 dollar ticket but no search luckily. It was also very easy to spot cars coming from Roo cause they were all covered with dust.

Everyone, please do the speed limit.
Seriously. My boyfriend and I watched all the videos on what to do if you get pulled over, and all that stuff.
We were driving through Pulaski, Tn on Thursday afternoon a little around 12 and got pulled over in a speed trap. It was pretty messed up, because the speed limit had dropped, and we totally did not see the sudden drop in change of the speed limit.
Well, loooong story short we got pulled over, cops searched car, found things I really wish they wouldn't have found and confiscated, and my boyfriend went to jail. So I had to get him bailed out and deal with a bunch of bs. And he had a court appearance the Tuesday after Roo, so we had to stay in the area Monday night.
It was a big hassle, and cost a lot of money. We almost thought we weren't going to make it to roo.
Jacob's bondsman even said that police and other state officials take advantage of bonnaroo's tourism to the state and are especially harsh on people! Speed traps are set up everywhere off the interstate exits and such, so be careful!!
My biggest advice to everyone is to STAY ALONG THE INTERSTATE IF POSSIBLE! We veered off the interstate because Jacob didn't want to end up in Chattanooga and back track.
The interstate is much safer to drive when it comes to getting profiled and pulled over. But we were thankful for the experience happening to us during our first roo, because if not we might have been a little riskier for the next years and something worse could have happened!
So, moral of the story.
Stay on the interstate, do the speed limit, and try not to bring things you shouldn't bring unless you're willing to take the risk!
I've heard people before mention that they pull you over like mad when you drive through White House, TN. I only have to go as far as Nashville, so I have no clue, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.

everyone should check out nevergetbusted.com/ he is an ex-cop and his video explains a lot of stuff, and basically explains what cops look for. He has some free clips on you tube as well.
he says that putting "D.A.R.E." and "FOP" stickers on your car was actually worse not having them.
