good looking out kristen, thanks. thats the only thing i'm worried about since i'm driving from new york. i have about 15 hours of driving... which means in those 15 hours, i could possibly be dealing with cops.
....not my favorite thing.
the best advise I can give you is just make sure your vehicle or whoever's vehicle is making the drive is in tip top condition.
No broken blinker lights, inspection stickers to date, etc.
And just DON'T speed. Police have to pull you over for something; they can't just do it just to do it.
My boyfriend had a broken tail light and we didn't even know it, so they pulled us over for that and speeding.
But if you guys are just super careful, you should be fine. And I recommend you don't partake in the vehicle once you cross into TN, just to be on the safe side!
OK, I'm coming from Northern NJ, so I think we'll be on i-81 for the lions share of the trip (my first time). Does anyone have any info from this leg of the journey?

the best advice i would give would be to go approximately 8 miles over the limit if you're in a hurry (except where the speed limit is already 70, then i would slow down to only five over) and anywhere near state borders is where you are most likely to get stopped, ESPECIALLY on main highways. I've never had a problem "advertising" my destination as roo as long as i've followed all the other laws
That's probably the worst advice you could ever give someone on this board. Going 1 MPH over in Tennessee on that weekend will get you pulled over.

I've heard people before mention that they pull you over like mad when you drive through White House, TN. I only have to go as far as Nashville, so I have no clue, but it wouldn't surprise me in the least.
We were stopped in White House, Tennessee for having an out tail light the Thursday night leading up to 'roo in '06. My friend got arrested that, but got let go with a citation. He didn't have any felony weight or anything like that so we got lucky. Then on Sunday night the same cop stopped us because we stopped at a fast food joint in White House and he saw us there, followed us onto the expressway, and I got off with a warning over my bowl. Moral of the story, don't carry anything and make sure everything is good on the vehicle.

So did the cops tear apart your vehicle (car or RV?) when you were pulled over?
Tear it apart is an understatement to what they did to the car. We spent 25 minutes on the side of the road trying to get our stuff back in the car. Some fellow roonies stopped and gave us a hand. Otherwise, we would have been there for over an hour.

yes, you will get in trouble if you are a minor and are in the possession of upopened alcohol. It was just another offense that was added to our tally.
So, yeah.. you might want to consider squeezing someone who is 21 or someone who atleast has some type of alternate id (i'm not condoning it or anything) just saying.
I'm 21 but some friends I'm going with are not - is it ok for unopened containers in that situation, or if there are any minors is it illegal?

yes, we would have been fine if we were in the company of someone that was 21 to vouch for it.
So as long as you claim it's yours, you'll be fine!
so theoretically if i had a clean glass spoon in my possession but no corn... would i get in trouble?
nope. if its actually never been used for corn, you're good to go. its a tobacco pipe, right?
of course... but what if i completely cleaned it... i might just have to sell this one and buy another one and bring a new one... or buy a new one at the festie...

i don't know if the undercovers in Tennessee are as bad as the ones in NY, but if they are, i'm bummed. Last week when I was in Ny I saw an insane amount of undercovers; Nissan Maximas, Impalas, Ford Mustangs [2000 body style, not the new '06 or 07's]. I even saw an undercover Taxicab cop, as in it had the taxi light on top and had a giant "TAXI" printed on the side. My point; you are no longer safe. My serious point; you can get caught at any time for speeding/whatever
