Guys we're thinking about this all wrong. Instead of bickering about who gets to control thread names....lets conduct ourselves like a real music festival and sell the naming rights to brands!!

1. Don't start a thread if you have no intention of attending. If you end up not attending that's fine. Voodoo is a tossup for me every year but I feel fine running the thread because I know a lot about the fest and am happy to help people with questions.
2. Keep OP updated with fest info. Lineup at a minimum, but I'd go so far as to say also include things like historical announcement dates, places to stay, basic transportation logistics, stuff like that.
3. Changing thread titles to reflect current discussion or rumors is fine. It is fun. We all are here to have fun. But try and keep the festival name in there (just come back Wednesday was funny though).
5. Maybe I'm misled but I feel like the mission of inforoo is to provide useful festival information so that attendees can arm themselves with the facts and have a fantastic and safe time. Also we hang around inforoo because it is a fun place. Any rules we create about threads should always keep this mission in mind.
Seriously, should there be a limit on how many major festival threads one can run?
One seems plenty. Most people don't start threads at all. It's not like this place is short on users. There is no compelling reason for someone to run multiple threads about different festivals other than 'because I want to.'

i personally think it would just complicate things. i say just let people use their own discretion. i also don't know why someone being OP of a thread is even a big deal. I remember Hangout's thread a few years ago was "Hangout 2016: Weaknd Warriors" and it didn't stop those motherfucker's from breaking like 500 pages.

If your gonna make a rule about who can run “major festival” threads it should just be one of you guys. You don’t want a situation where people race to have a thread all to themselves. Either it’s a problem or it’s not, and if it’s a problem, one of the mods can swoop and say “sorry, this is gonna be a moderated thread,” transfer everything to a thread they own, and anyone who whines about it can fuck right off.

But I hate for you guys to not be able to run a thread for a festival you love and regularly attend. And I don’t know shit about the Panorama festival.

I've been to the first two editions and know most of the shit. I'll help you
Edit: I also don't work for neither of the companies, so I can be impartial.
We should limit what can be in the title to the actual fest name, location and dates.
This is the obvious and simple solution, particularly when considering the fact that 98.7% of all attempts at "funny" festival titles are really fucking stupid.
