Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm not sure what's going on in this thread at this point, but I will say that I don't really associate Launchpad with being a mean-spirited poster and don't really fully understand the hate he gets.
There is a clear bias that he has - but I don't ever see him trying to get himself over at the expense of other posters. That's where I tend to draw the line. There are posters* whose only contribution is to get themselves over by mocking other posts and not creating new content or ideas. Launchy at least creates content and ideas even if they are thinly-vieled screams for attention.
And the reason I stopped posting here so much isn't because PaunchLad is awful, I learned to deal with that a while ago. There are many... Social bubbles(?) that layer within inforoo. You can only pop through so many before you reach one you don't feel you're welcome in, and once you reach that point this place becomes stale.
Sorry you feel this way. You were always fun to have around.
Jesus people. Hit the block button, tune me out if you want. This isnt hard. You have somebody else in this thread who dislikes me telling you she did that and is happier for it. Do it, be happy. Im not going anywhere and not giving you scoops that you feel entitled to is not a bannable offense.
Probably also worth saying that some of the younger, regular posters scare off noobs as soon as they post something questionable. Like literally attack a brand new poster for no fucking reason other than to just be dicks. I have seen multiple scenarios like this recently actually. I'm sorry if I offended some of you by making fun of Bonnaroo, but that is far worse imo.

That definitely came off worse than it was meant to be I think. It's just the way things go. This is a large and long living social community that has many long lasting relationships. These are natural and are all great things, but there are going to be some downsides and that's fine.
And need more regular posters in here with their opinions. Don’t be shy, no one else has.
joined this board to help steer the Kanye tournament the right direction (I mean seriously Hold My Liquor?), and had never lurked prior, so I don't really have any kind of historical perspective...
if you have scoop you can't leak, a hint is pretty much the same thing, but I'm all about that kind of stuff so I don't really care. And the 'haha i know you don't' is also whatever, pretty lame to not say, but there are ways to talk about the information in a way without explicitly stating names or being obvious, and most of the scoopers do that. just going off pano there were 3 people i think(?) that said they knew and the extent of it was "y'all are gonna hate it", which turns out I did.
the best part of 'figuring out the lineups' is taking tour dates and cross referencing them, looking back on past fests to see if X would come back so early, etc. if the threads could be more like that and less pictures of hairy assholes that would be stellar.
I agree with thor that not updating the OP with lineups/poster that have come out is pretty frustrating, and would eliminate a lot of the "i had to read through all this bullshit" bickering.
as far as everyone hating LP, it's whatever, sometimes its a little much, but its not that difficult to scroll through. also yeah if there's a block feature just use it, if someone quotes him, block them, blockception son.
the most offensive thing that happens on this board is people shitting on other people for their taste in music (something I and lots of others are guilty of). also emoney's signature picture/gifs, hate em, its disturbing.
as shitty as all you people are, it's still better than reddit, so I just deal.

Not for nothing, if you block someone you can’t see the important information they should be summarizing in the OP of a festival thread. So if there’s a poster who is regularly telling people to “just block” him, that poster probably should not be in charge of a large number of popular threads.

It's not so much that people are entitled to scoops. It's that you vaguely and constantly tease info and then will go back and say "oh that wasn't a scoop...it's just something I'm saying I would have liked."
The whole "I have scoops but can't tell you guys" thing gets tiresome in multiple threads and done constantly. There's a major difference between what insider used to do and how you "share" info.
That's not to say you should be called out and jumped on every time you post something. That does happen at times and leads to nothing but bickering that distracts from the actual discussion. You've got to realize you're rubbing some people the wrong way (and not just the ones who get vocal in the threads...we get reported posts from a variety of folks). That's just from the shit posting and teasing scoops....the thread title thing is a separate issue.
We appreciate the constructive discussion in here and are taking everything into consideration. Thanks everyone....keep it civil. Don't touch the poop dollar. It's not worth it

I'll bite.
I'm not so much of a regular poster, but I do visit this board on an almost daily basis. I generally come here for tour news, fest news (even fest I don't go to), and to learn about new music.
I enjoy comparing lineups of festivals and I value a lot of peoples opinions around here. My friends don't branch out for new music so this is a great place to find new music from people who have great taste in music. A ton of the music I listen to regularly I found because of inforoo.
That being said, their is no reason any 2019 threads should be created in January of 2018. Wait until the fest has ended and then create the thread for the next year.
A lot of the bullshit going on right now is people just being petty and it really sucks. Making rules on who can make what thread for this or that fest is crazy too. If you want to start a thread for a fest it needs to be serious and not in jest. I'm not saying no joking around allowed, but don't make a fest thread just for shits and giggles or to fuck with someone else. Keep the OP of the fest thread updated too please.
also yeah if there's a block feature just use it, if someone quotes him, block them, blockception son.
As an FYI, proboard's block feature is hot garbage. Nothing much mods can do about it though.
It works pretry well on desktop (though quotes fuck that up) and mobile is okay if you can resist hitting "see this post". But yea...someone quoting a post will still force you to see it which sucks.

this thread was a read and a half.
I certainly haven't been here long enough to know the backstory how everyone interacts with each other. That being said, I'd imagine all the bickering, name calling, etc between people doesn't help lurkers hit that "Create Account button." I think having festival threads include more information would be hugely beneficial. Dates, fest hours, location, ease of getting in and out, where to stay, where to eat, how tight security is would be nice.
That being said, I'm not updating the Made in America thread I started, don't come to Philly, you're not welcome.

You would still see the thread title with dates, what other important information would you be missing out on? The lineup poster?
Yeah I am such an awful person that when a complete stranger came to me saying they were going through a rough time, I did what little I could to help them out. Such a terrible no good person.

isn't the point of coming to inforoo for festival information...to have the information?
often scrolling through the recent threads you will see a fest thread get bumped to the top and lots of activitiy, a sign the lineup has probably dropped. It's nice to be able to just click on that front page and get the basic info to then join the discussion. Or, to have a reference to look back on during the discussion. Obviously anyone can google the lineup, but it is definitely nice to have all the relevant information in somewhat collected, organized, and in an easy to find place. Isn't that the whole point?
If you have to go to a festival to run a thread, we need to hold a coup on the mods since they don't go to Bonnaroo. We need true leaders who are stoked to see Dua Lipa or whatever.
THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE
The Mods don’t run the Bonnaroo thread. We do go to a lot of festivals and concerts. And that is what this board is all about. So I think we qualify to run it. And who the fuck is Dua Lipa?

can we all just agree that we shouldn’t make threads about events literally more than a year in advance?
Depends. Bonnaroo headliner thread and other high-profile fests like Cochella I think it's okay to create more than a year in advance. But ones like Panorama we don't need 1.5 years in advance, let alone 2 threads.
Yeah I am such an awful person that when a complete stranger came to me saying they were going through a rough time, I did what little I could to help them out. Such a terrible no good person.
hahaha
How virtuous of him to share this interpretation for all of the board to see. He's not petty at all.

been posting for a couple years, lurked before that. most of the people around here know how to take stuff in good fun and not get bent out of shape. people gave me a hard time about the edm that i like and i could really care less about what they think about the music i enjoy. so what did i do? i didn't press it, i don't "poke the bear", it's just going to make things work and why try to convince others about what i like being better or what they like sucks.
teasing scoops over and over would get so tiring. i don't really go into many other festival threads because i know i'm not going to them so i don't see some of the back and forths being talked about but i can imagine it's draining. thus LP has never really come off bad to me, but i'm not in these threads in question.
festival threads shouldn't be created until the current one is done seems pretty easy for everybody to agree. they should almost just be auto-created, no name change (although i don't mind the add-ons), and really the people should have to moderate themselves in these threads. the mod of the thread really has no control of the thread when it comes down to it.
apparently i care about this place enough to type this, so there's that
