What is that from? My local sports radio has used a longer clip of it and poorly dubbed over their own show title and I always wondered what the original was from.
NothingButFlowerswalakaCap'n Mac would you guys mind voting on this? I'm being persistent only because I've reached a tentative trade agreement that hinges on them being able to keep one of the acts they have the rights to, so we'd need the vote to pass first.
I'm going to go with no. If you want to use an act as part of a trade, you have to have that band on your roster, not just the rights to them.
I would also like to propose that if you have exclusive rights to a band, but have not drafted them by the start of the free agent round, they should become available for anyone to add. Thoughts?

Well yeah they’re an undrafted free agent. Isn’t that what that means?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

No.
The popular interpretation of the rules so far is that those who hold rights to a band because they own one member of that band get to keep those rights into free agency. The alternative, as Cap'n Mac is describing, is that those drafters that hold exclusivity should, at the very least, be forced to draft that band, rather than just being assured that band into free agency.
For example, Kim has Radiohead. Should he just be given Thom Yorke as a free agent after twenty-five rounds of opportunities to draft Thom Yorke? Or rather, should his number-one overall pick of Radiohead ensure him the exclusive rights to have Thom Yorke on his lineup?

Ah. The way I thought of it was that just saved a certain band for me Being able to drafted whenever I chose. If I didn’t they became an ‘undrafted’ free agent and were up for grabs

If you have exclusive rights to a band, then you should be able to have them in the undrafted free agent and nobody else should be able to use them. You still only get a certain amount of picks so it isn't like not drafting them is giving you an extra band. What is the point of having someone that is exclusive at your fest, if you can't utilize them to the fullest when nobody is allowed to draft them?

I think that certain band is, as of the current rules, saved for you. What was up for debate was whether you had the right to trade that band before you draft them, based on your exclusive rights to them based on drafting a different band with common members.
What Cap is addressing is the question of whether you can trade a band that you have exclusive rights to before drafting them (you officially cannot, as of the results of this vote) and also the newer question of whether you must draft a band that you have exclusive rights to in order to maintain exclusivity for that second band into free agency.

I was always against the possibility of trading undrafted free agents based on some kind of exclusivity before their being drafted, which is the established rule. Was advocating against a rule change here.

Just FYI.
I don't know if I'm really tired but I have no idea what this means.
Trading "rights" is stupid. I thought the question was say I draft the National, can I then trade them or do they have to stay exclusive to my fest?
Doesn't make sense to me that you have the exclusive right to draft them but can also give them to someone else if they compensate you. Either a band can exist at two festivals or they can't.
The rules are based very much on the idea that they absolutely cannot.

i didn't get the UDFA part of your first post.
I'm referring to the idea that someone who hasn't been drafted yet should be allowed to be traded. You are not (as far as I can tell) advocating for that.
You are asking that someone you have exclusive rights to, that you also drafted, should be tradeable. I am also against that.
I feel that if the rules are based around the idea that The xx and Jamie xx couldn't possibly play more than one festival, for example, that they must play only one, then one or the other's rights should remain exclusive to one festival. Otherwise, the rule we have in place is broken.

Can we just have some clarification of what the rule is? Do i have to draft Thom or not? This has a pretty big bearing on me because i was drafting under one assumption and now it seems to be shifting

No, because you have the exclusive right to every member of Radiohead as a free pick after the 25 rounds. I don't understand how you can come up with a new rule that is in contradiction with one of the base rules of this game? Aka you draft an act and you're the only one who gets to draft them and it's members. I feel like the The National case is an exception of the rule. Why should the rules be changed base on an exception? ?

I am for proposal 2. I think if someone has the rights to an individual by having picked that individual’s band, they should be allowed to trade those rights if they want to. I get that it creates an exception to exclusivity, but I’m okay with that because the first person to draft whatever act still gets to control the exclusivity of that act’s members. If that person is willing to give up a band member’s exclusivity, why not let them?
in case you forgot what this awesome festival has to offer aswell: Pearl Jam * Foo Fighters * Bruno Mars * The Strokes Childish Gambino * Kraftwerk 3D * Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ODESZA * Alabama Shakes * Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Eric Prydz presents EPIC 5.0

Idk about you guys btw but here in Europe, or in most countries of Europe, festivals announce their bands/artists just like we're doing right here which I always kind of preferred to the American way of announcing line ups. You're always in for a surprise, you're never really sure what you're gonna get and if there's been a dissapointing announcement, you can always look forward to the next one in a few days.
