UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
Well that was a shit show trying to get orchestra seats for Pavement at Kings, but I got em. Now I just have to wait forever for the show. Guess this makes up for missing out on Beck tickets.
The Genesis date at Barclays just got canceled, don't know if it's just that one or the rest too. Ah, was looking forward to a show in walking distance, have to wait til NYE now. EDIT: Just Barclays, probably misjudged demand and was undersold. They made more tix to the Garden and UBS especially to those affected, just picked up one to UBS on the 10th (can't make the Garden). At least I can check the new arena out now! They also offered one free piece of merch (tour t-shirt or program) as a consolation.
So my gf and I are going to Lcd on Dec 4th. This will be our first time in Brooklyn and her first time in NYC (my 4th) are there any touristy things we should look into in the Brooklyn area. Thanks
Anyone been to Market Hotel? Had a pipe dream about shooting over there after the Beabadoobee show at Webster Hall to catch Nation Of Language. Don't think the timing will work out but just curious about the venue, oddly out of the 25-30+ places I've been to here to see live music, never been.

where are you staying?
Not sure yet. Flying into LaGuardia, probably going to find a hotel in that area

I’d recommend against that. It might be cheaper, but there’s not much out there in terms of access to things to do. Also, not really close to BK Steel, or easily accessible from the venue by public trans.
Ideally, I’d suggest you stay somewhere in Brooklyn - Williamsburg or Greenpoint. If that’s too pricey, you might even be better off staying in Manhattan than out by LGA.

It’s a quick trip for us, flying out the day around 11am. I’ll def look for hotels in that area though. Day trip couldn’t miss Lcd

Perhaps look for hotel or AirBnB options in Long Island City...not too far from the airport but also easy to get to Manhattan AND Williamsburg/Greenpoint, and usually cheaper than both.

I’m sure it’s fairly easily to snag a Lyft/Uber to get to the airport ? Thanks you all a whole bunch ! I really appreciate the input

Yeah, if you're not going during a heavy traffic time (which it sounds like you wouldn't be), it'd be about a 15-30-minute cab ride from LIC, depending where in the neighborhood you were.

Think it'd be 15ish minutes, it only took me about 20 minutes last time I went LGA to Downtown Brooklyn.

Yeah, LIC sounds like a good solution in that case. Will be real easy to get to the venue from there, easy to get to/from LGA (time dependent as mentioned) and there are some solid restaurant/brewery choices there or in Greenpoint which is a stop or two on the G train and on the way to BK Steel.
So I ended up getting a ticket for Beck on StubHub. Last night’s set was very special. God I LOVE that little man.
Took him a few songs to warm up but after that it was amazing.
Also, this was the third show I've been to this year opened by a comedian, after I've previously only been to one show opened by one, ever (that show still had an additional opening band). Not sure if this is a trend or it's just that bands are still ramping up. Not complaining, they've all been funny and we need laughter these days.

Was that other show St. Vincent? She had a comedian open for her at Radio City.

One was St. Vincent, the other was The Strokes back in June.
Was the Beck show more stripped down/acoustic (appears that way looking at the setlist)? If so, definitely cool for die-hard fans who attended. I enjoy his catalog but prefer his more upbeat side which is why I opted out of this show.

Wasn't acoustic in the purest sense (although Beck was playing an acoustic all night) but definitely very stripped down. He had two old band members with him (keys and electric guitar) as well as Korg (lol) for about 75% of the show. It started slow but was quite lively by the end, and he talked a lot, was kind of a Storytellers format.
