Sixth time seeing Jack White solo. He has yet to disappoint.
This was my second Jack White solo show, saw The Dead Weather once. My wife is a huge Black Keys fan and playfully buys into the BK vs WS beef. This was her first time seeing White. After the show she said “I’ve never seen The Black Keys do anything like that. Don’t tell anybody I said that.” Hahaha!!!!
Great show last night though Warsaw still gets the win due to that wild setlist. Also, that hype man/DJ was...really fucking lame. No idea why Jack has him on the road.

The thing I always love (and sometimes forget a bit) at Jack White shows is being reminded that he plays all these great White Stripes songs but has a full, much more talented backing band (no offense, Meg....still love ya) to really amp it up. Hearing those....I don't want to call them "jammy" versions of the songs but he definitely jams and rocks out and adds a bunch of flavor to classics.
Even though I've seen a lot of these songs before it's so awesome having him pull from WS, Raconteurs, Dead Weather but dominating with his solo stuff. Great set.
Also, I think the no phones thing is going a little overboard at this point. I get that Jack doesn't want people recording him but it adds a ton of additional time waiting to get your phone unlocked at the end of the show. Additionally, a lot of people now use their phones to pay for concessions/merch so not having that access can be a drag.

Yo that dj was sooo lame despite him playing really good songs. ODB, Tribe, Blondie and The Runaways. My wife and I were vibing hard. But then he would say the corniest shit trying to hype the crowd. We were like shut up and play my jams!!!!

Oh, man, hard disagree on this one. I love a phoneless show. Totally worth the waiting time to get out the door for me.

I like it during the actual performance, causing more engagement with the crowd. However, since I was solo last night, was a bit boring in between sets but I suppose I'm just being cranky.

I didn't plan this but I had Bluetooth earbuds in while I walked to the venue and waited on line. Was listening to a podcast before going in.
After my phone was in the pouch I remembered that if I tap once on my earbuds they will continue playing whatever was playing last (music, podcast, video, etc).
Put in the earbuds, which also are noise canceling and got to enjoy some more podcast instead of DJ hype man
In more "I had no idea she was THAT popular" news, both Beabadoobee shows at T5 are sold out.
well its partially the taylor swift effect. She is support on some stadium dates so swifties just listen to those artists and of course will buy tickets to shows. And maybe just shoegaze with female vocals is becoming more appealing to some.
And theres a trick on how to open those pouches with just a paper clip.
For anyone interested in G'N'R there are regular (i.e non-premium or VIP packages) pit tickets available via the Live Nation presale ($375 + fees). Something tells me this will be a soft ticket show.
Saw The Dip on Saturday at Brooklyn Steel. It was somehow better than their Bonnaroo set. Really chill and fun. Kaleta & Super Yamba band were awesome too.
