Decemberists, Iron & Wine, Bikini Kill, Belle and Sebastian, Liam Gallagher…I guess they’re aiming for the 35 and up Wilco-shirt dad crowd so they dont have to go into the city from Prospect Heights/Park Slope/Sunset Park.
That's me! I live in Prospect Heights and it's amazing to just take the train 2-3 stops vs trying to schlep to Williamsburg.

And it's just slightly easier to get to than Kings, for me - a difference of something like 8 minutes! Woohoo!
Have to think this will negatively impact Kings Theater, right? Although I assume they use that space for a bunch of other things as I rarely see shows announced there.
We’ll have to see how great the venue is. A lot of bands prefer Kings in general.

Capacity’s very different though, 3,600 at Kings i think, to 2,000 at Paramount, the latter being wildly easier to get to from the city.
Let's really hope the Paramount doesn't suck. I remember people being all psyched when Terminal 5 opened as an alternative to Roseland and then....yeah...we know how that turned out.

It's pretty good for the mom crowd too and it is just one block away from me, so how they're booking it is making me very happy.

I think this is the venue that was made to directly go after Kings Theater and negatively impact them, right? Once Kings Theater decided to go to their own ticketing system instead of the ticketmaster bullshit Live Nation started looking for other mid-sized venues in the Brooklyn area to open up as competition.
Always down for more venues but not excited if the goal is for one to put the other out haha.
I love Kings Theatre as a venue but it is kind of annoying to travel to and is in an area with really nothing to do before or after a show so it's just not that exciting of a night out. Beautiful venue though.
Looking forward to checking out the new one at some point.

Could be but not necessarily. Live Nation doesn't have a mid-size GA venue in NYC unless you count Irving Plaza which is more of a small club. Brooklyn Paramount, from what I gather, essentially allows them to have a House Of Blues-size venue here to book shows. King's is a different vibe and, at least in my mind, more for shows that work best for a seated crowd. To your point, also, King's is not in the most desirable neighborhood and also a bit out of the way whereas downtown BK is much more accessible. Plus a lot of acts may like a GA floor vs seated which the Paramount makes sense for.

I saw them on this tour in 2002 at MSG (Phantom Planet opened!) Too pricey to buy upfront but will see how tickets are week of.
I took a look at the presale today and was shocked at 1) how expensive the tickets were, and 2) how fast they seemed to be selling. Would really love to go to this but just hoping to get decent seats for below $100.

So Jason Isbell and Sylvan Esso are playing a Hollywood Bowl date. That'd be a slam dunk at Forest Hills or Prospect Park bandshell if those two joined forces here (though maybe Sylvan Esso is still embarrassed they had to cancel their own Forest Hills show?)
