I decided to bag The Strokes as $240 + fees just did not interest me enough to see them in the year 2021 but happy for those who got tickets.
If these shows are fundraisers, it's money well spent. For value, though, you can get Strokes and the rest of Shaky Knees' 3-day lineup for $209 (plus fees). And have something left for a small-club show- also a good way to support our favorite industry's recovery.

But then we'd have to go to Atlanta (which isn't a bad thing and I loved the Shaky I went to).
Think a more parallel comparison was their NYE 2019 show at Barclays... I looked back at my order and it was $188 including fees. The show on Saturday is $125 including fees, with the added bonus of being only a 1000 person venue. That tipped it towards me going for it.

its a fundraiser for Maya Wiley
Thanks for that info, gocatsnu. I should have chosen the word "charity" in place of "fundraiser" (as in political fundraiser)!

Successful ticket purchases today.
Got Felice Brothers tickets (1 show in NYC and then 1 show two days later at the Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock).
Then was trying to get tickets to the "Final Tour" show by Dr. Dog at Pier 15 but they sold out super fast, then were only offering jacked up "verified re-sell tickets". Kept having issues and the cost kept going up. I knew they had another NY date they announced but up until just a few minutes ago the info wasn't anywhere. Then it popped up and I snagged some tickets to the Terminal 5 show in October which isn't my favorite venue but it's on a Saturday and if I can get in early enough should get a good spot.

I should clarify that I've seen The Strokes 6-7 times already and, while I like them, I'm not a superfan so the price of two tickets for what I generally view as a lackluster live band supporting a mayoral candidate I'm not wild didn't make sense at the time. That being said, show sold out instantly and hopefully by me pulling up two tickets and then deciding "nah" allowed a superfan to get in.
Urghh first I strike out on Foo Fighters tickets, then I find out Rolling Loud isnt doing 1 day passes.
What a disappointing morning.
The building may not be available but I don't see why the Foos just don't do a mini-residency. Given how MSG is actually a smaller arena with less tickets available to the general public, a big band playing there is almost like a big band playing WH/T5 in terms of demand/ticket availability.

Isn't MSG capacity the same as other NBA/NHL arena's though? I could certainly see them add at least one more date.
They were great, it was a 16 song set of their better known songs. Dev/Blood Orange came out to do a song with them. Nick couldn't make the show but I didn't feel any difference. Julian was in great form last night, and chatty. John Mulaney did a funny opening comedy set. Of course, this was a fundraiser so Maya Wiley said some remarks, as did AOC. Seems like everyone did get there early as asked, so the line to get in went around three sides of the block, but it moved fast and checking everyone's vaccine status and tix was quick and glitch free. Irving Plaza looked spruced up but not a lot different, although I think the stage is lower than it used to be.

What time did they end up going on?
They went on at 9:55pm, whole thing ended 11:30ish. Maya Wiley spoke about 8:40 (she came out again before the last song), Mulaney came on around 9, and AOC spoke right before the Strokes came on.

getting a full hour and a half for a fundraiser is pretty great. Jealous, the videos looked like the energy of the crowd was top tier
Getting some slight FOMO after seeing videos but who knows if I would have even been able to get tickets.
Anyways, for the Mon show announcements, Rancid/Dropkick Murphy's playing Forest Hills in late August. Also, Modest Mouse have added a 4th night at BK Steel.

I definitely need to hit up that Rancid/Dropkick show, but also that is WAY too big for them. When Dropkick did Forest Hills with Flogging Molly a few years ago the place was like a quarter filled.
Totally planning on scoring free tickets through a giveaway the week of.
