If I remember right, it's on a Wednesday. I prefer not to go to shows in Boston during the week, since it's an hour drive home afterwards and a short turnaround for work the next morning. I try and limit the midweek shows to special occasions (Rush's final tour, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Ghostland Observatory's first show in BOS in 8 years, Gaslight Anthem's '59 Sound anniversary), rather than on bands that'll come around every year or two.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
is Lorde at all a possibility as far as headliners go?
I don't think she'd headline but since she doesn't seem to be playing shows next year it doesn't seem likely at all. Not to mention she did very poorly selling tickets at the garden.
Regardless of who's near the top of the lineup, an undercard that includes Low Cut Connie, Pinegrove, Seratones, Curtis Harding, and SWAY would make me very happy.
(If every spot hasn't already been booked, I'd imagine Crash Line is probably scrambling to book SWAY right now, given that they've blown up on Indie617, the first internet or terrestrial radio station to give them airplay. If SWAY is doing U.S. festivals in 2019, they'll be in the lineup.)

Honestly I don't know any of those aside from Pinegrove, whom I love. I'll check them out though

Low Cut Connie -- Supposedly great live band led by piano-playing frontman Adam Weiner.
Seratones -- Replace the R&B leanings of the Alabama Shakes with garage rock, and you'll get the idea.
Curtis Harding -- psychedelic soul
SWAY -- 60% The Smiths, 30% Echo and the Bunnymen, 5% Oasis, 5% The Beach Boys

You really gotta find a way to get to Newport. 4 of those 5 played there this year or last.
While it doesn't rule him out entirely, Anderson .Paak just announced an Orpheum date in Feb. He's also doing dates in Chicago, SF, and NY, and I can't imagine that he won't be in at least a couple of lineups between Lolla, Pitchfork, Outside Lands, Gov Ball, Boston Calling, and Panorama.
Whomever mocked him as second line, which I was skeptical about at the time, may be right. His star is on the rise and he could easily be 2nd line at any major fest.
You can rule out My Morning Jacket for every fest, as they announced that their only three dates in 2019 will be two shows at Red Rocks and one at Forest Hills.
I prefer Pure Heroine, but Melodrama's also great and I didn't see her when she was touring it, so I'm down for any opportunity. But yes I'd imagine she's done until LP3
Boy, that Hangout Fest lineup looks incredibly bad and does not portend well for Boston Calling on the following weekend.
As was brought up when it was announced, they don't tend to have a ton of crossover. That's the direction Hangout has been clearly headed in for a while. BC not so much.
5 cross-over artists last year: The Killers, Portugal, Manchester Orchestra, Pussy Riot, and Noname. None of those are particularly egregious bookings
Broken Bells have been teasing new music with cryptic twitter posts the last couple of months, including a picture today. Feels like they'd fit in with the general Boston Calling vibe pretty well.

Yeah that I could see and tbh 2 out of the 2 headliners I saw this year within 2 weeks of each other then Death Cab that same week, and then saw Vamp and Dua (not my best choice for an after show, my friends wanted to go what could I say) at Lollapalooza.
I want something *different* but realistically this would sell decently well and I can actually see it happening sooo why should the above matter lol
