Also have a feeling youll have to choose between the two. sadly the way theyre billed theyll likely conflict
Possibly, but isn't the Blue Stage headliner likely to conflict with Odesza (mostly) and the beginning of Tame Impala's set?
Unless they bump Odesza down the pecking order a bit, one of .Paak and Hozier is going to be the last Green act before TI and the other is going to be the Blue headliner.
(BTW, that TI live video is two years old. Hasn't their music been increasingly moving in an alt-pop direction? If so, that's going to change their live show. I'll take the SNL appearance as a clear indication of what they're doing live in 2019).

Yeah I think I'm pretty confident it'll be Hozier closing Blue and the other three on Red/Green. Paak and ODESZA conflicting seems like a worse move than Hozier and ODESZA.
That video is from one of the last shows Tame Impala played outside of a few fest dates last year. I wouldn't say they've been moving increasingly in any specific direction. Currents was definitely more synth-pop than their first two records but yeah we'll have to wait for the new music/SNL to get a sense of what's next for them.
i think Earl Sweatshirt is the most likely replacement. given his spring dates in RI and Boston are sold out and he's playing Connecticut thursday the 23rd with open dates Friday and Saturday.

Ah, man, my condolences to those of y'all who are going to be there on Friday. Black Star being on the bill that day was one of the things making me gnawingly second-guess my decision to just go Saturday. Here's hoping they line up a kick-ass replacement.
The Lolla lineup is always going to make ours look bad. They have so many more artists in general, with 4 days and like 7-8 stages, it makes it easy to pick more that you like on their poster than BC's just purely based on numbers... Percentage wise (at least for me) i think it's usually pretty similar, though they definitely get the edge this year.

Yeah, I just think its impressive that they have all Coachella headliners, our #1 and #3 billed at #3 and #5, respectively, and gov balls #1 billed at #4. Hope osheaga manages to get Gambino, Tame, Strokes and Flume

Anything in our Top 3 being in their Top 6 i'd say is a wash, since they have 2 headliners a night, but i know what you mean. And as someone who is on the fence about going to Osheaga, I'd actually prefer no Tame since i'll see them here. Really really pulling for The Strokes and Childish Gambino.
With each new lineup drop, the Boston Calling lineup seems increasingly disappointing. I was hoping that my last year in Boston, after 31 years here, would have been highlighted by a really good Boston Calling lineup, but that's sadly not the case.
It's like turning on your TV to watch a new episode of Atlanta and discovering that FX replaced it with Keeping Up With The Kardashians. It's literally just like that.
Lollas top 6 makes this look really bad. I will say though I prefer our undercard.
you can see four of the top six, maximum, at Lolla. Lolla this year is pretty much horrible if you know how they do the schedule, would be three acts max that I would be interested in that I could see in a given day.
Flume sucks live, so Boston Calling ain't missing out.
opinions. personally would have taken him over any of our top 6 except Tame
Have you seen Flume live? His show at GovBall 2015 was dull. It just went from pressing play on one song to the next. Though I can certainly understand him being a must-see if you really dig his music, and I would hope that he has grown as a performer since this.

I have and yea he def could have used more instruments and guests but i loved his set regardless.
From reading this, I'd assume it means those bands won't be on one of the 3 main stages at all, which explains how they increased the size of the lineup...? So it'll likely be the same sort of schedule as last year across the main stages, with unopposed headliners, I would imagine.
FRIDAY Friday at the Arena will see comedic sets from Fred Armisen and Boston hometown standup favorites Sam Jay and Lamont Price. As the sun goes down, fans can retreat to the Arena for an electro-beat filled performance from Yaeji and sets from Naeem and DJ Frank White.
SATURDAY Saturday shines with the debut of Boston Ballet at Boston Calling. Attendees will be treated to an excerpt from legendary choreographer William Forsythe’s Playlist (EP) set to R&B star Khalid’s “Location.” Boston Ballet premiered Playlist (EP) as part of the Full on Forsythe program in March, starring powerhouse dancers and set to a soundtrack with hits from pop, dance, and R&B charts. Additionally, attendees will experience an original work for two Boston Ballet dancers by Yury Yanowsky, choreographer, former principal dancer of Boston Ballet, and faculty member at Harvard University, set to Wilsen’s “Final.”
Hometown local Jenny Slate will deliver a headlining set of comedy while Imogen Heap will return to Boston for the first time in nine years to present a special spoken word performance featuring her groundbreaking Mi.Mu gloves, a revolutionary technology that produces sound by capturing movement and hand gestures. Standup sensation Marina Franklin will also bring her act to the Arena, and Lamont Price will return to the stage to keep the laughs going. Following the stellar dance and comedy, Princess Nokia and Dessa will perform pop culture rhymes while Naeem will return for a DJ set.
SUNDAY SNL’s Michael Che and Melissa Villaseñor will both take to the mic on Sunday while the day’s Boston Ballet performances in the Arena will feature the return of Yanowsky’s Final and a new work choreographed by Boston Ballet artist, Sage Humphries, set to an original score by Michael Humphries, the artist behind Future Self, and brother of Sage. Imogen Heap also returns on Sunday to perform.
On Sunday night, Chromeo will spin their funky beats in a DJ set. The full-on Sunday evening dance party will also star hip-hop electro phenom Kilo Kish and DJ Joshua Carl.
In addition to performances on the Arena stage, fans will be able to enjoy Boston Ballet performances on the festival’s Green stage on Saturday and Sunday.
